Why is it that once something becomes the trend, every other product must follow the same trope!? The biggest sellers I can remember are the most ground-breaking products, so it baffles me that so few developers are focused on innovation.

When a company makes their game a self-proclaimed successor to some of the most praised games in the industry you know they're trying too hard to get attention.
Nice! I'm downloading it illegally then #YOLO
Good ol' Nintendo. I'll get back to you the day you're no longer stuck in a bubble. I hope that day will be real at some point :-P
I guess I do too.
Also I think some games succeeded (mostly) in finding their own language, such as Half-Life 1 and Journey as well.
Well isn't that mostly the influence of american developers that made the industry so "blockbuster" focused? And since it became a success the Japanese developers like Capcom and such have started imitating it with Resident Evil in a half-hearted attempt.
Yeah but you don't play this game for the QTE's. You play it to try exploring each scene as an interactive film. Some choices do matter and there are some subtleties you only find by searching for them. It's like an uncut movie where you get to see what happens off-screen and as boring as that might sound to some…
Trust me, the story is so stupid you'd never want to watch the entirety of it as a film. There's enough interactivity in it to make the gameplay experience poignant IMO. But it does feel lacking in every aspect except for presentation.
Which might be why they're so awfully easy nowadays :/

His voice must be heard. He is a very good critic. I don't people to shut him up.
Seriously, by this point I'd really just tell Sonic Team to stay off the franchise already. Really, just let someone else take over it or make Dimps the main developer. In the past 10 years Dimps have almost consistently proved to be the better developers for the franchise. Most of their Sonic games have simpler and…
I C what they did there :D
As much as I love MH3U for my 3DS (Spent 100+ hours already!) I still think the series need to get a little more stylyzed in terms of its HUD and the area designs/monsters plus it needs to incorporate realtime physics for when you get smacked through the air by a monster. I know it might turn some hardcore fans off,…
This is an odd comparison, but I was a Korn fan back when I was still a young teenager and Nintendo is like Korn at the point of their Take A Look In The Mirror era as I see it. It's gonna go uphill and downhill in terms of succes but they're just not gonna do anything groundbreaking from this point on. I just don't…
Is that foe gonna be called "Ganondina" then?
My 2 cents about Nintendo are that they keep up with a good line-up of solid games every year... but there is ZERO ambition in any of their games. Last time I saw something like that it was with Twilight Princess and while it was great I couldn't help but feel it was still another Zelda game living in OoT's shadow.
Apparently, you've forgotten the Dreamcast.
