I think you're wrong there. Even in the latest games there are plenty of leaps in logic. It's the story that makes it so good though. The gameplay is also immensly satisfying when it matches your way of thinking.

I partly agree, but there's something about the art style that just looks messy. It hasn't kept me from playing it though but i do admit it turned me away from it before i got to play it.

The story is practically non-existent. You shouldn't care about why you kill monsters. You do it because it's fun and challenging. I do agree with you on the big weapons thing. I've gotten used to it, but it did strike me as being over-the-top to begin with and that usually turns me off in sword fighting games.
