Thanks. Yeah, I unfortunately wasn't a good fit in the social aspect of the office. I was there doing data entry and related stuff for the engineers, all male, whereas the women there were all secretaries/designers/HR so were social, drinkers, manicures and skirts and I was from engineering/working class/techie

I would assume amusement services isn't up there because they'd be among the most unreliable jobs with very little pay, eg. clowns, cinema staff, catalogue models? Dancers (exotic or otherwise) theme park or circus workers etc. Which would mean little to no benefits, if I'm accurate with my assessment of the American

Yeah, I feel like this is definitely not comparable with todays workforce and far too limited as well as not taking into account access to insurance and mental health professionals, as 'amusement/recreational service' workers and others similar are likely very low paid. As well as gender differences in the industries.

I worked an office job, and left for half the pay to a customer service job where I would be interacting with people and on my feet all day because of that exact reason. I started fantasizing about jumping in front of a bus on my walk to work... Now I'm much happier working in a shop even if I don't have all the fancy

Thanks, will definitely avoid, such a pet peeve.

Badly written, but edited and published books have been driving me crazy lately!

Is it from the protagonists speech? I haven't personally read this book, but I have another that his inner voice is narrating and uses 'should of' as part of the characters persona, with other persona indicative words eg. man, dude etc.. to represent surfer culture. Wasn't particularly well written though. I don't

I too was a teen, found it in my mums bookcase where I had discovered Particia Cornwell's Dr. Scarpetta books and Clan of the Cave Bear, so thought it would be great; was definitely next level creepy though. Took me months to get up the courage to borrow something else from her!

That's high praise, would you mind giving me a quick synopsis?

I was surprised by how creepy it actually was, as a teen who grew up in the 'hot vampires' time. I was the only one of my friends to finish it, and the fact that he was inhuman and the devastation left was very real makes it a top recommendation for me for anyone who luuuuurves vampires. No more lovey-dovey vamps!

Oh my goodness, this is literally the only book that ever actually spooked me; I'm not a horror buff. I felt physical reactions in some parts and after reading it once years ago I can still remember it, the plot is imprinted on my brain. But no one I've spoken to felt the same way. They were all 'interesting but not

Thank you for having this marvelously civilized discussion. Best I've read! I can't decide whose argument I support because you both made many excellent points.

Ooh, I love this topic! Part of my studies, I'm an anthropologist-in-waiting, is studying footpaths and the unwritten social rules between space transitioning ie. how we unconsciously understand or are socialised to associate different materials/areas with where we can and can't go as pedestrians/cyclists/drivers etc,

Oh wow, that sounds really sensible. It's possible the female bears here may be mating with more than one bear, and it's just that the one is most fertile then.

That sounds really cool. I see DIYing as a self taught skill, the same as makeup. Those of us with a passion for art or expressing ourselves through appearance will probably be more inclined to teach ourselves. I pay attention to hairdressers especially. Buy their tools, etc. The only thing I wont do myself is bleach.

Mine was previously. I tell you what though, if you're looking for a natural permanent brown/red colour, or any other natural but less dull colour, John Frieda is the best. It's foam, so reaaaally easy to manage, it's basically like using shampoo. And it covers more than other brands; a full head right down to the bra

So I studied this at university (sustainable development policy), and there's a reason we should be celebrating this, because it means that farms are producing multiple harvests, which was a big problem in the past. Basically, deforestation was causing erosion and leeching nutrients from the soil of farms, so after a

Yeah, all the people who 'descend from Genghis Khan' also descend from so many non interesting people. I bet if they picked a random gene sequence for comparison across the population, they would find many people descend from much smaller villages/cities etc. which Khans army swept through. All it takes is one woman

That's what I think too; why wouldn't they want such obviously strong genes to be passed on. It would be different if the other bears were superior in dominance displays but he was fertilizing more, or killing unrelated cubs. Which is another factor; he may be killing unrelated cubs before they can be counted? Or he
