I have lived my entire life shrouded in anonymity and indifference. I find that far more preferable than being abused with hate and active dislike. I don’t know why it would be important to draw attention to one’s self? It would seem better to go about day to day operations without people constantly criticizing me.

How are we going to “contradict” what song started playing on the phone when they read the article, and whether the phone was on shuffle at the time? And then offer reasons” why that song did not start playing and whether the phone was on shuffle? And why would it have been more likely to happen in A.V. Club in 2007?

Sing well.

Yes, I can see that everyone is excited and giddy and that it’s cute. It’s just weird to me that people are excited and giddy and cute while singing “I’m cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor.” I am happy to let it be what it is. But it also seems like there is no connection to the words of the song at all.

Now playing

Disagree. The original by EdnaSwap is pretty downbeat. It doesn’t sound all that different from Tori Amos, especially before the 2nd verse kicks in.

I am so confused by their performance. The song’s lyrics are all about being broken and despondent and lost. And the performance is completely bouncy and happy and energetic. It’s like there is no connection to the message of the song. There is a lot of cognitive dissonance going on.

The movie is titled The Woman King. But in the AVClub post and in the trailer, John Boyega seems to be the King. So I don’t really understand the title. It just seems to create confusion. Other than that, it looks like a pretty cool movie.

30 years still seems kind of light to me, considering all the lives he’s ruined...

But that’s any social activity. It’s not inherent to TTRPG. If you find a great group to do an activity with, then you’re thrilled you get to do it for a couple of hours at a time over several months. If you you don’t like your group, you’re miserable that you have to endure hanging with a bunch of folks you don’t

Sounding insincere is an issue, especially if you are trying to win over a jury. And if you are a professional actress, who is expected to be able to portray emotions in a convincing manner, I would think that a jury would particularly question why you can’t sound sincere talking about your own life.

Okay. Well, I was basing my comment only on what was reported in the article. I have no firsthand knowledge of the other instances of racism they experienced. If it was worse than that, then that’s unfortunate. If those were the only instances — getting called slurs during acting exercises where people were meant to

I agree, the experiences were horrific. I guess I was just surprised by the quantity. I thought it would be more constant as opposed to isolated instances. As you say, the world is definitely in a terrible place that a thought process like this even ends up getting articulated.

Fair enough.

Probably not. It’s just that whenever I read a headline about people experiencing racism, I guess I anticipate the worst at this point.

Any racism at all is bad but if that was the extent of the racism they experienced, I feel like they got off kind of lucky. It shouldn’t have happened at all. But it definitely could have been a lot worse.

Go ahead and make as much comedy as you want. Nothing is stopping you. Nobody runs comedy.

If an actor hasn’t learned not to sexually harass people by the age of 84, it seems like he doesn’t have a lot of time left to figure it out.

I don’t think it’s that Byzantine. Movies cost a lot of money and, therefore, carry a lot of risk. Even smaller indie movies like The King’s Speech, The Queen, The Artist, The Imitation Game, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Pan’s Labyrinth, Brokeback Mountain, 12 Years a Slave, Sideways, Into the Wild, The Hurt

Someone asked him about Abed’s lecture in Community. He said that he has never seen the show and was not familiar with it.

Is there ever a time when it’s a good idea to lose track of quality? Has anyone ever said “this project has too much quality?” It seems like something you should always keep in mind.
