Yep, I've had two border collies, both required me to surrender the dog to them if I could not keep it. I would have LOVED to rescue instead but I don't know if you've ever experienced a border collie, but I would not trust a rescued one around small children.

There's plenty of reasons to get a dog from a breeder rather than a shelter but go ahead and call people asshats, that'll help your case.
