To me it says the Anthem that was released was probably slapped together and rushed out the door in 2 years or less. That would explain why the game seems so barebones, and why there are so many design choices that weren’t ironed out.

That’s what happens when the lead writer who created everything about the Mass Effect universe leaves.
It’s worth noting that most of the people who made Bioware RPGs (Baldur’s Gate, KOTOR, Icewind Dale, NeverWinter, DA:O) don’t work at Bioware anymore. You can honestly separate Modern Bioware (DA2/ME onward) from RPG Bioware (though, even Modern Bioware has lost a chunk of the talent that made Mass Effect 1-2 great,…
Given how much of a shitfest the development of Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 were, Bungie DOESN’T.
Wingman is great at mid range, it’s a faster firing Longbow DMR without the Scope. You can even snipe with it, if you can lead. Don’t be afraid to ADS with the wingman, it’s hipfire is trash. That’s the main draw of Wingman-Peacekeeper. Hip fire Peacekeeper in close range and switch to Wingman when there’s distance.
That is my point I kind of lost grasp off in the ramble. Borderlands had variety. Destiny is the one that has come the closest to variety, with their unique guns that have special effects. Didn’t play Division 1 much, only to level 10, but i remember different types of assault rifles handled differently. So that had…
Oh i remember. Zero..? had his pistol tree. Extra damage, headshots put ammo back into the magazine. Pair that with a high damage Six-shooter that fired 2 bullets per shot, infinite ammo. I remember respecing Zero’s abilities just for that gun.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone bring up Borderlands, and while Borderland is infamous for it’s random loot (“A BAZILLION GUNS!!”), it was just a gimmick in an otherwise (mechanically) generic shooter.
It’s more about what people expected from Bioware, aided by the fact that Bioware constantly drummed “This is a Bioware game”. To most, that means a sprawling game with relationships, epic story, and scale. Anthem is not that. Anthem is essentially 2 games. Another Loot Shooter and a walking simulator with fun…
Apex Legends was developed by Respawn, the team behind Titanfall and many key members were former leads on CoD4. Respawn knows how to make a tight and polished FPS. Bioware is treading new-ish ground with Anthem. Mass Effect’s gameplay was mediocre at best, broken at worst. What carried those games were the characters…
Well...The original idea was that they don’t pay taxes so they CAN’T have a say in politics....
Reminds me of importing all those janky B-list anime games for DS and Wii back in the day.
My grandmother would call it Goulash, but as I grew older the term “Southwest Chili” took it’s place. Never heard of “American Chop Suey”, and this is coming form Texas. So maybe a regional thing?
They were a good chunk, as they got full profit from selling used. I know they’ve tried to double down on used sales in recent years, going as far as limiting new copies on the shelves to promote used copies. Because of competition, I imagine used games are also down.
Amazon and Digital Distribution happened. GameStop went from selling 60+% of all physical copies, when Digital was a small portion of games sales, to selling less than 40% of physical games as Digital grew big. All this happened within the last 8 or so years, too. They haven’t bothered to adapt their business model.
Well, technically means it’s $15, and only playable as long as you have a subscription...
A big difference between BF3/4 and BF1/5 that goes unaccounted for is the player’s movement and rate of fire.
Prior to 3DS/WiiU, Nintendo’s senior development staff had not seen or touched a Playstation or Xbox, much less their online infrastructure. It took a fledgling western developer for the 3DS to ask questions and explain to Nintendo how PSN and XboxLive worked to get Nintendo IDs. The only reason why Smash 4 “For…
If Epic does put forth an effort to put a wide variety of games on their service, through curation, it’ll be easier for the consumer to find quality games they would enjoy playing.
As director, team organization for the game falls on him. When Hajime took over FF15, he restructured most of the development team, took a game that was “about 20%-25% done” after 6 years and reworked it into FF15 within 4 years.
