The Fool’s role is often to speak truth to power. The play is a comedy when they’re heard, a tragedy when they’re not.

No stray observation about the 90s cartoon theme as Eclipse’s ringtone? I thought that was great.

I really enjoyed this first episode. Color me surprised that the adults were the dullards of the hour, since I was sure it would be the kids that would be hard to watch. And even then-Acker and Moyer weren’t totally awful. I’m hopeful they’ll get to do more as the series goes on.

What I don’t get is that the whole thing is predicated on the idea that even though the GOP controls the White House, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court as well as the majority of individual state governments but the Democrats are really in charge of everything. You’d have easier mental gymnastics just saying

After contemplating the sad state of the human condition after hearing about the shooting this morning, i immediately thought, “surely not even Alex Jones could think this was a hoax.”

Fuck, man. I wasn’t even that huge a fan, I just loved the hit singles. But those singles were so great and ubiquitous that you assumed that he’d always be around to play them. Too young for a legend like him. Horrible day.

I’m 54 year old. Tom Petty and his music have been a constant in my life since I’m 13. I’ve worn out his records and seen him perform more times than I can count. He never quit. He has a new album and just finished a tour — he never became a “play the greatest hits at the county fair” guy.

Gonna be one heck of a jam session in the afterlife tonight:

Now playing

Rest in peace and thank you for being a large part of the playlist in my heart.

It doesn’t matter what his motivation was, it was an act of terror because he shot over 500 people and killed more than a tenth of those. There is no cause other than terror; he was prepared, these people were strangers to him and he did not see their faces.

“well, i guess it’s time to go crush someone’s dreams!”

“You know what LMOE needs, a female version of Tandy”—Said no one, ever.

You want to point to a show that’s amazed me over the years, it’s Bob’s Burgers. A poor schmuck burger flipper, his wife and kids trying to scratch a living in a Coney Island-like city. You’d think the writers would’ve been tapped out after the first season. And yet Bob’s Burgers keeps chugging along with funny sitcom

Between that and Dan Belcher becoming Tina Belcher, Bob’s Burgers may be the best example of the benefits of cooperate oversight ever.

I want them to do an episode, a single non-canon episode, that explores the shows original pitch: cannibalism.

Well fuck. That wasn’t what I expected to see happen in this episode. Fucking brilliant. I’m so glad I’ve stuck with this show since season 1. What a rewarding experience.

This review is far too long. You told me Jeremy Piven’s in it, so I know to avoid it.

Dr. Seuss atoned for his youthful mistakes. The messages in his books are overwhelmingly positive, tolerant, inclusive, and open minded. Writing them off as “racist propaganda” because of what he did (wrong) for the war effort is bullshit.

Or you could read the librarian’s actual response suggesting that donating books to a library in an already wealthy, predominately white neighborhood is dumb, giving suggestions as to better places to choose, but nah the White House’s narrative makes for better clickbait, good job AV Club!

This episode was over the top perfection. It’s one of those you can watch again and again and catch something you missed every time.
