One way to tell if a subsequent work of fiction is whether it truly makes the original(s) better. So far, Andor’s been doing that. And doing it far better than an almost throwaway line about many Bothans dying.
I was hoping he’d jump and Andor could help him ... but that was a long freaking swim. I don’t think we see him again. “Play it how you want, but I’m gonna assume I’m already dead.”
Goddamn Andy Serkis was phenomenal in this. He is truly one of the great Actors of his generation. The casting and performances in this show truly has been top notch.
Yes!
This. Show.
I remember when Luthen said that he was giving everything for a “sunrise he’ll never see”, and it suddenly all clicked thematically- “Oh, shit”. What a good episode.
I thought that about the boots too, but a) they had already deactivated the floor, and b) those boots would’ve just sunk them once they jumped.
My guess is that this is not the last we’ve seen of Kino. It’s going to go one of two ways for him, I think:
-Kino shows up again at some point in the future (probably next season), part of a rebel cell. He and Cassian Andor have a reunion, and Cassian marvels at the fact that Kino lives and has made it this far, and…
Andor has easily become my favorite show of the moment and the best since The Watchmen a few years back. This is storytelling, this is acting, this is how to make Star Wars! I’ll be sad in a few weeks when the Season ends, but happy that I will get to binge it all over again
I loved Luthen talking about being condemned to use the tools of his enemy to defeat them. We’re made to think the Empire has committed an atrocity by frying 100 prisoners just for learning they’re not getting out, and then Luthen lets 50 rebels move forward with an attack he knows will get them killed just so he can…
This right here is what makes the show really stand out. Every character is human. Nobody is fully right it wrong, nobody is without fault or merit. Everyone, down to the barely-seen side characters, has a real and human motive, perspective, and flaws.
There is not a SINGLE character on the show I would classify as straight-up villain or straight-hero. EVERY single character has selfish qualities, while at the same time redeeming qualities as well. Silco’s anger at Piltover is perfectly understandable, as is his anger at Vander’s betrayal; and the fact that he has…
Arcane is literally a masterpiece, a work of art, one of the best animated series ever, and even one of the best series ever (animated or not). It was brilliant, and no matter how much it’s been appreciated, it is starkly under-appreciated. I mean, give the damn thing all the Emmys for godsakes. Anyway, I very much…
I really, REALLY liked Silco. The dichotomy between him being a villain and actually caring about Jinx was really cool.
I (who also knows nothing about LoL) just watched first season a couple weeks ago and was totally blown away. I say completely without hyperbole, it is an absolute masterpiece.
Just another reason I am very, very glad the TV show is not feeling compelled to follow the books for anything other than inspirations and themes. Sometimes you want a pure adaptation - sometimes you want something actually watchable. In this case I don’t think it’s possible to have both and I’m glad they went with…
I’ve always wanted Bioware/EA to invest in smaller scale ME/DA games. Like... visual novel style RPGs. Something where we can enjoy new lore and new types of stories that aren’t just action shooters.
Mass Effect RPG but instead of saving the world and killing everyone you just, like, run a bar on the New Citadel or something and get to interact with all the people and solve little mysteries and puzzles and also run your bar and who knows maybe you get to romance an alien or two.
Hoo boy. I don’t really want Shephard to return, as I’d prefer a new trilogy tread new ground instead of being focused on ‘hey, remember all of your friends from the good old days?’ The only scenario here that sounds appealing is the idea of Liara finding hints over her long lifespan that Shephard may not be gone, and…
