I’m old and loved Burroughs as a kid, but even in my day the pulps were the province of nerds. If you think John Carter was unadaptable in the 2000s, Tarzan is worse. Unless you’re rebooting the Disney cartoon everything about the original is hugely problematic in 2022. Tarzan battles an awful lot of cartoon villain in

Ikr? Some people ask stupid questions here. Smh. Just to hate on the show for no reason

Also thank you to whoever it was on here who praised the way night scenes are shot/lit/post produced on this show, in the comments on an earlier episode. I’ve been noticing it so much ever since, especially in contrast to how the night time scenes look on other shows I’m watching atm.

Presumably Waldreg snuck out as the Numenoreans came in and was well gone by the time Halbrand brought down Adar. It’s difficult to imagine anybody who had stayed with Bronwyn/Arondir not noticing him otherwise.

He’s also a massive aficionado with a house of horrors of his own. I’m approaching my own 10,000 hours on the subject, and would consider him one of the most knowledgeable horror geeks on the planet.

I think a hard pass can cause it.

Devil’s Backbone is one of the great Horror movies of our time. We could squabble about whether Pan’s Labrynth is Horror, but the Horror scenes in it are downright terrifying. Every movie he has ever directed has at least some Horror elements. He also produced the all-time unsettling El Orphanato. The man has Horror

Basic physics? Snapping the arrow like that’s going to move the shaft in the process.

So Hamill has left and come back to the role multiple times now. But can you blame him? He’s so good at it and so clearly having a blast every time.

I mean I hope it suck a little right?  Wink Wink, nudge nudge

Is Pharazon “main cast”? Because that actor has him down to a T, he’s in line with my pre-existing image of him to an extent I haven’t seen since Lee’s Saruman.

1. Nobody ever opens it to see what it is. As soon as Adar gets it, he walks out of the cottage, says ‘Waldreg, I have a task for you.” Then the Numenoreons attack and it’s not seen again until waldreg is turning the key. Adar must have given it to him off screen there.  Then Adar rides off as a distraction/decoy.

Came here to point this out too. Udûn refers to the circular valley in the northwest corner of Mordor, between Isenmouthe and where the Black Gate (which features prominently in LOTR) is later built.

Drone delivery is going to fail in the US. I say this as a drone pilot myself, as there are too many back assward people who hate them, or think they’re spying on them (seriously, if you have that thought, what are you doing that is SO interesting that people would want to spy on you?), or we have people who just want

“somehow, Waldreg, the sauronic servant that had tempted Theo with darkness before joining up with Adar, had managed to swipe the blade away in the chaos of the battle”

Wow.

Yep, explaining why “Flame of Udûn” is what Gandalf calls the Moria Balrog.

Great episode. Love the action and the slow realiztaion I was watching the Mordor origin story

I’m going to be really disappointed if Hal is Sauron or if he and Galadriel have a romance.

Buying a good IPA or whatever isn’t really the same thing as making a beergarita, which is what this sounds like. The latter can be very refreshing on a hot day and you don’t really want to use a good beer because the lime juice and salt overpower the beer flavor anyways. And it’s cheaper too.
