but I truly believe the films improve upon the saga

I really like the concept of young-ish Galadriel being so grief-crazed by the death of all of her brothers in the wars with Morgoth that she throws herself into hunting Sauron, who she correctly perceives as still a threat (she is smarter than Elrond, even, and a lot more experienced)

“blah blah woke blah”

It will be interesting to see if they mention Celebrimbor’s heritage; his grandfather, Feanor, created the Silmarils, the jewels at the heart of all of the wars of the First Age, and was responsible for the first instance of an Elf killing another Elf. It’ll be interesting if he thinks crafting the Rings will act as a

What are you basing this claim on? The show isn’t out yet.

There is absolutely a story, it’s just a matter of whether it will translate to the screen.

There is enough raw material in various Tolkien writings that the right creative minds could conceivably flesh out into interesting narratives. Whether or not this team managed to do so has yet to be seen.

Durian is a fruit. Durin was the name of a line of dwarven kings in Middle Earth.

I had no idea AT ALL that that guy was supposed to be Elrond

Isildur’s failure is pretty overblown and I blame the movies for that. He never stood in Mount Doom and decided not to chuck the ring in. The true nature of the ring wasn't even made apparent to him until later, and nobody (not even Elrond) knew the true extent of it's power. So yeah, he had hubris enough to think he

It was more a choice between him shooting one kid or him shooting both. The outcome is either tragic or even more tragic, so the choice is clear, but even knowing that it’s still a hard choice to actually make.

Arnor was the northern kingdom. I’d like to see dramatization of that; there are lots of intriguing stories Gandalf and Aragon hint at, and the appendices touch on.

I mean, that’s a completely different story.

lol. Triggered?

it wouldn’t be the first time starfleet members time travelled back into events of TOS or before.

It seems most recappers I’ve seen are trying to retcon the situation to be a choice between which one will be saved, mother or child, but that’s not what I got from the show at all.

“so that makes it okay”

I guess I’ll have to be that Tolkien nerd who starts off saying “Well, actually...”

as will marrying for political reasons.  and marrying for money.  and marrying for any other reason, really.

This week a 12 year old was suggested as a wife for a man 4 times her age, which clearly horrifies him and he decides not to go through with it precisely because of that.
