I nearly hip-checked a woman at the local burrito place when she kept asking them to add more cilantro. They were putting it on by the handful. It was like a cilantro salad. Blech.

My 19-year-old daughter. Well, she didn’t buy it, her dad and I bought it as a Christmas gift. She had heard from a friend who used it that it was good quality and since it was a splurge, she put it on her Christmas list. I wear a bit of Quo powder and whatever mascara is on sale at the drugstore so I have no

Exactly! I should have been clearer to say that wasn’t her philosophy but instead was what she had observed in the library and in society.

A librarian I knew called it “social Darwinism:” my kid at the expense of everyone else’s.

Just toured the Kingston Penitentiary on the weekend and they talked about Grace Marks as part of the tour. If you’re in the Kingston, ON area, I highly recommend the tour. It was quite illuminating. (And Alias Grace is available for sale in the gift shop!) https://www.kingstonpentour.com/

Came here to say the exact same thing! And you’re welcome to stay for hours upon hours in the library. And in a lot of libraries you can bring in your coffee. Heck, we have teens ordering pizzas during exam week and we have to page them from the front desk.

May I recommend Walter Kirn’s Blood will Out and And the Sea will Tell by Vincent Bugliosi? You may enjoy them!

Leslie Mahaffy’s body - let me correct that - Lesley Mahaffy’s body parts were found encased in concrete on the day those two monsters got married. They raped her, they tortured her, they murdered her, they dismembered her, and they put her in the lake and they got married two weeks later. That poor, poor child. I can

I have one of these. BEST Mother’s Day gift ever. Found a recipe for an egg-less Nutella ice cream that is divine with shaved dark chocolate and chopped hazelnuts.

Star for “shedding clothes like they’re made of spiders.”

We’ve taught our kids (girls, both) that it’s just what you DO. You pull on your pantyhose, dig out your low-heeled pumps, put on a dress and you GO. Even with that though, it wasn’t until I was the one in the receiving line accepting expressions of sympathy that I truly understood how much it means to the family that

But I have universal healthcare!

$35 where I am

In Ontario, our health and safety act was amended by Bill 168 which required all employers to implement policies and procedures around violence and harassment in the workplace in response to a nurse being killed at the hospital where she worked by her ex-boyfriend, an anesthetist at the same hospital. It was

Excellent point. We do have GPs where I live but continuity of care is a huge issue. My GP pointed it out when we were discussing a health issue - nothing major - but there were bits and pieces of the puzzle in different places and he was trying to put it all together.

I’m so sorry to hear that. How awful for everyone. I think your point about extending life is very well taken. A friend’s mom was diagnosed with bladder cancer in her early 80s and she decided she didn’t want treatment. Her oncologist scared the hell out of her by telling her what a horrible end she was headed for.

LOL. He’ll always be Dan Conner. <3

Just in case anybody thinks this is new, I’m here to tell you it ain’t. A friend of mine called out this bullshit behaviour about 25 years ago. I can’t even remember what was happening specifically but there was some sort of march in Toronto and there seemed to be an awful lot of men who couldn’t just show up and

Thank you! :)
