As a kid growing up reading comic books, I absolutely loved the character of Monica Rambeau. If there is a future Captain Marvel movie in which an adult Monica Rambeau and the exquisite Brie Larson as Carol Danvers become a tag-team Captain Marvel team, then I dunno... I’d probably spontaneously explode.

I’m white and I was cheering at Lee’s speech.

I did an oral report on Spike Lee in high school and got a pretty good grade in it, for my report I watched Do the Right Thing and it certainly left an impression on me, but i’m there were a number of subtleties I didn’t pick up as a kid, so perhaps a rewatch is in order.

The second the Oscars decided to play up Black Panther and BlackkKlansmen, I knew that final award was gonna go to some white-washed bullshit like Green Book. There is nothing Hollywood loves more than patting themselves on the back for pretending to give a shit about racism while continuing the cycle.

I don’t know that Spike Lee was upset that he didn’t win so much as upset that Green Book won. Like if he had lost, but Roma had won, I don’t know his reaction would have been the same. He wasn’t visibly upset when Cuaron beat him for Director.
