(Copying/pasting from my own blog here, so yes, you can find an almost verbatim version of this elsewhere online.)

When I was a kid, my family acquired a Ouija board. We tried it out a few times, with minimal success, until one day, we ‘struck gold’.

I’ve had a lot of paranormal experiences happen to me and around me over the years. I have always believed in some form of paranormal other, whether it’s a ghost or spirit or demon. My mother also believes in what she cannot see so I grew up with a healthy dose of the other side. Regardless, these events still give me

When I was twelve years old, my mother took me to a friend’s dinner party in his farmhouse. We were in Gadsden County, North Florida, out in the country. Our host had turned down the lights and there were candles everywhere. Over simple conversation someone asked me, in that special Southern way, where my people were

When I was 10 we moved into a home that was about 100 years old on a farm about 5 miles outside of the small town we had been living in. We planned to live in that home during the time my parents built their new house on the same property. The home only had two spaces that had been designed as bedrooms so my room was

This story happened to my uncle, when he lived in an apartment in Daly City, California. My uncle was (and is) an atheist with a scientific mind that made him question all the hocus-pocus stories told to him by his Cuban family. He was a computer programmer and a decided skeptic. In the 80s, when this story takes

Palate cleanser! I swear to Dog this is true.

I kinda wish I had a good scary story. Most of mine are from over active imaginations and people who are easily spooked.

My aunt and uncle lived less than a mile from my childhood home. My mom and aunt were sisters and best friends so I (and my siblings) spent a lot of time at her house. Even after they adopted my cousin, we were over constantly. The house always felt friendly and loving and my aunt had a way of always making you feel

My mom tells us not to talk about it, but there is something sensitive about our family. We feel things, and then we bite our tongues to prevent bothers from thinking we are nuts.

Nowhere near as scary as some of these but I’ll give it a go (it’s a slow burner...more of just a series of scary events which happened in one house):

I can share a few spooky stories, but shall share one that leaves me joyful if mystified.

I originally posted this story in the Scary Stories contest in 2011, but I thought I’d bring it back because I have an addendum to the story.

I work at a medium-sized religious college in the south and parts of the campus incorporate the mansion and grounds of a 19th century estate. The mansion, now a museum, was built for a wealthy woman where she lived with her children and a succession of husbands. Unfortunately, several of her children died at a young

The Hall

I have been following these stories and finally decided to share mine though it might not be that scary.

I told my mom’s story a few years ago and I think it was an honorable mention. That story still creeps me out but here’s one from my childhood that I actually witnessed.

This is such an awesome thread! I only have one experience that scared me shitless and was part of the impetus to end a relationship I’d just gotten into. Haunted house=dealbreaker.

THE REASON BEHIND THAT GIRL...

More of a creepy maybe home invasion tale but:

I will preface this with the fact that unnatural movements freak me out. A lot.
