This movie is just wonderfully ridiculous. The script is just full of WTF, but in a good way. This is the kind of movie where you’re missing the point if you pick apart such high-minded conceits as “plot” or “dialogue” or “acting”. Wan remains a technical whiz. Quite a few exciting, mind-blowing, great looking shots

I never watched Blue’s Clues as a kid, but I remember this dude’s album being pretty good as far as Flaming Lips knockoffs go.

Also, just to clarify, if you’re referring to the opening music, it isn’t Ballroom Blitz. It’s Arctic Monkey’s Dancing Shoes. Not saying that negates the discussion re: budget, but the factual error was bugging me. Carry on.

also I think Roiland and Harmon kind of obsessed themselves over the first couple of seasons, know they have a bigger writer’s room staff and Harmon has made the decision to give up some control because of a personal choice to not be as obsessive.

I feel like this had the feel of an episode with Harmon’s fingerprints

- I’m surprised at how Rick-centric the episode is. I mean, it’s sort of necessary for Rick to do this on his own, but to dispense with the family in the cold open is basically unprecedented for this show. And even then, there’s not even a cutaway or B-story to check in on them, like there was with Beth and Jerry’s

Grabbed Puyo Pyuo Tetris 2 on sale for switch. It was finally down to 20 bucks lol. Excited to get into it. Also got Towerfall but I’m waiting for some friends to come over for that.

I liked Caesar, but yes, it didn’t say much about classic studio-era Hollywood that we haven’t seen before in other movies, so I agree it is a “lesser” film of theirs.

This is a huge misunderstanding of both pop and rock and how they interact and inform each other, though.

You seem to be implying that by dint of being a rock album, whatever Trapt shit out most recently has more artistic intent than something like Charli XCX’s “How I’m Feeling Now”. I’m not sure that playing an

Nah. Like any online movement, writers started trying to outdo each other for the hottest take, but at its core, it was necessary to shake up how fucking dour and straight-white-dudey post-millennium music journalism was. Look at Pitchfork from 2002 and tell me those guys didn’t need to put down OKComputer and fucking

You weren’t always expected to write or play your own stuff in rock though. That notion only really came around in the mid 60s, a decade into rock’s existence.
I agree that artistic validity shouldn’t be given to pop as a matter of fact, but pop is a particularly porous category of music to begin with, as the label has

Tonight, on “Boomers who think they have snappy comebacks.”

It makes more sense when you realize it’s misogyny and homophobia

rebecca black is definitely an exciting pop artist. i love the ep and i’m happy for her touring to sold out shows.

Jeez buddy I think you’re taking this a little too hard

Is she a fresh, bold visionary? I wouldn’t say that. But it’s a good first effort, and the vitriol here is kinda weird.

I don’t know if I’m fully on board with the music (I only checked out Girlfriend, is she writing her own stuff? her voice feels a bit thin to me but the beat slaps) but the fact that she kept at music and made all this happen after the Friday debacle... and didn’t slink away, change her name, swear off performing

It’s weird how both female-led MCU films are flashback movies taking place in the past.

Art Official Age is one the few late Prince records that I go to as often as his mid to late 90's period. FYI his last great album? NPG- Exodus.

Not a bad album once you get past the messy title track. I think you nailed late Price, Noel. He was a master composer and band leader, but putting together song sequence and art for albums was not one of his skills. We were lucky to get Art Official Age in 2014. Most of Prince’s albums after 1996 are messy and uneven.

Not hating on T-Pain (however I do hate me some Usher!) but Roger Troutman does NOT use auto-tune. Zapp and them brought us those hits by way of the talk box. Which most importantly requires input from a skilled musician, usually a keyboardist or guitarist. Auto-tune has only really been around since the late 90's.
