Thanks for the response; I think I’ve hit my limit with stories like this. I think I’m hoping for a perfect outcome, which does not exist.

I agree re: they should decide to do what’s best for them. But in my time as a victim advocate for young people of color abused by former members of a powerful entity, I saw first hand that MANY perpetrators welcome closed depositions and quick/no contest settlements to assuage themselves of wrong doing. To think this

I don’t recall insinuating you were alluding to altruism, I meant that the Archdiocese has earned no good will in this matter and does not deserve the benefit of the doubt in any instance in these matter.

I know this, but I will not give the Archdiocese the benefit of the doubt on anything.

I get what you’re saying, but this settlement structure is under the guise of expediting the process for victims who may need the money (for PTSD and trauma treatment, life-long STD’s acquired from abusing priests, etc.) when it’s just a ploy to make sure victims’ stories never see the light of day. I feel like I’m

Their time? Dignity? Sense of trust in authority?

This may be different in that we (the public) may not get to find out what’s in the depositions because you just KNOW that part of the settlement will be sealed at the behest of the Archdiocese.

THIS!!!!!!!!! And yell it again for those who may not have heard in the back row!

Why does this feel like an excuse for you to use epithets comfortably?

Perhaps Burke can take the money and use it to find the real killer...No shade, but shade. (I really do hope SOMEONE is still seeking the killer. What’s the point of bringing this up every 10 to 20 years if there’s no resolution.)

But why? Why did he do this? It’s such an odd story.

We know hoarding is in the DSM, but it’s hard for some people (especially due to those “Hoarding - Buried Alive” type shows) to muster “empathy” because the perception is that hoarders are “just pack rats” or are simply “dirty.”

Deep inside I want to believe it’s all an act and he’s pulling a Ronald Reagan via SNL (seeming like a dotty Grandfather enjoying the twilight of his years but secretly a mastermind.)

Totally forgot about that! (And the screenshot is hilarious especially his expression at her comment. Half confused, half bemused, but always charming.)

(But he wouldn’t f*ck it up...)

“Too fresh and hot?” (The jokes write themselves.)

You win this round.

Nope; He’ll be The US Rep to the UN then Secretary-General. Get ready, we’re in for an interesting ride (but I don’t want to tempt fate, lest I cement a President Trump victory.)

He’ll probably push for “Public-Private partnerships” featuring Monsanto and Archer Daniels Midland with a large gold archway and a mean guard dog sh*ts in the red cabbage.

That makes sense...Everyone is different and there is no one “prescribed” reaction to horrible events.
