Does anyone really actually prefer the old infinity engine real-time-but-you-can-pause system? Sure, it’s fine when you’re under level 3 and all you do is just attack and maybe cast magic missile once. But after that it’s utter chaos and I just end up pausing every couple seconds because I’m not an AI that can control

As the other victims have already been reduced to being nothing more than “and seven others” who died along with Kobe and his daughter, it is unseemly for his wife to be competing with them for whatever monetary damages are available to be claimed.

What exactly is she hoping to get out of suing the pilot’s estate? I feel like it’s in poor taste, when you presumably have an enormous fortune, to sue the (presumably significantly less well-off) family of the deceased, not when you’re already suing the employers of the pilot.

On the last question, she's suing his estate.

Pete is a puppy.

WHAT IN THE NINE HELLS IS THAT.

Don’t forget this horror

Uh...what? The original was not “cartoony”. It was anime.

Have you tried The Sun Also Rises? Worth it.

Me too, but Heart of Darkness benefited from the fact that our teacher screened Apocalypse Now for us after we read it.  He was a Vietnam Vet.

Heart of Darkness was my favorite from AP English in 11 grade.

I remember having this same conversation back in high school. Everyone in my class complained about how long and boring it was and I was like “It’s a novella!”

If the consensus is that it’s a very dated attempt to combat racism by focusing on the way it corrupts white people (ie, Chinua Achebe’s take almost 40 years ago), that would be reasonable.

And it’s pretty good actually.

Basically, the hated list contains anything you had to read in school that was long and really, really boring

Moby Dick is frickin’ great.  People are so weird about books.

whelp, there goes Gamestop’s profits for the year

Oddly enough he sold it back to gamestop for $13 in store credit.

My money’s on the supplier pulling out, Amazon was already trying to lower Whole Foods pricing, and I bet they were pushing the supplier to do the same for them. Said supplier probably then couldn’t maintain or went under, or just said fuck it and pulled out of the deal.

I’m not anti-Amazon at all, but their purchase of Whole Foods has been something of a disaster from a customer standpoint. I went from being a semi-regular shopper to three or four times per year. Even without “disappearing suppliers” the stocking of many shelves (particularly produce) has been terrible since Amazon.
