I think it was this commie right here...
They (we) have already spent so much money on this piece of shit that they have no choice but to keep going until it works. Fucking ridiculous. Shining example of the “Military Industrial Complex”.
That’s a burner account with no other posts. So, yeah.
It seems to me like someone warned us this would happen nearly 60 years ago... Who was that again? Probably some bleeding heart liberal dove, right?
Who actually gets the money when other countries buy the F-35? Doesn’t that money go to Lockheed, not the US Government? Isn’t the US just subsidizing R&D and then Lockheed gets to profit twice?
Thank you Lockheed Martin spokesperson.
Meanwhile we can’t give military vets decent healthcare and let them die in the streets as a thanks for their service.
No, this is what happens when you let the people who decide whether to let taxpayer money keep getting shoveled into a defective product get paid via campaign contributions by the company making the defective product.
To be fair, once they figure out how to actually make the F-35 work, its “Beast Mode” configuration will reportedly be able to simultaneously drop five Paveway IV laser-guided bombs into another unending, unwinnable military quagmire that started because someone thought it could win them re-election.
Because then we would have to acknowledge all of the people handing out those tax dollars to the vendors as completely incompetent as well, and we can’t have that happen now can we?
This is what happens when you let the sales department design things.
Have you tried The Sun Also Rises? Worth it.
Me too, but Heart of Darkness benefited from the fact that our teacher screened Apocalypse Now for us after we read it. He was a Vietnam Vet.
Heart of Darkness was my favorite from AP English in 11 grade.
I remember having this same conversation back in high school. Everyone in my class complained about how long and boring it was and I was like “It’s a novella!”
If the consensus is that it’s a very dated attempt to combat racism by focusing on the way it corrupts white people (ie, Chinua Achebe’s take almost 40 years ago), that would be reasonable.
And it’s pretty good actually.
Basically, the hated list contains anything you had to read in school that was long and really, really boring
Moby Dick is frickin’ great. People are so weird about books.
My money’s on the supplier pulling out, Amazon was already trying to lower Whole Foods pricing, and I bet they were pushing the supplier to do the same for them. Said supplier probably then couldn’t maintain or went under, or just said fuck it and pulled out of the deal.
