I do a yearly walk/run down Broadway (starting at the Marble Hill bridge at the Bronx border and ending at the ferry), and dread walking through Times Square more than I dread the ridiculous hills uptown. 

Honestly, it depends on what you’re trying to do. If you’re trying to get amazing views of the skyline or some pictures, then yeah, my recommendation is to go to the BK bridge as early as possible on a weekday.
