I think a lot of it is the fans. The amount of speculation and ridiculousness is what allowed that story about the Spanish BOTW2 actors to spread like wildfire when it was just a bunch of BS. They latch onto whatever small nugget of information they get and blow it out of proportion.

Saw a sad thread on a meme site of users complaining that Larson isn’t funny and is ‘boomer humor’. Made me really angry that a community whose sense of humor is defined by irony and morbidity wouldn’t understand the magic of Larson.

You do realize other offensive gestures, symbols, and words were previously not offensive right? Them being not offensive at some point doesnt change the fact that they have been given new meaning.

If you’re about to say “But it just means OK you snowflakes!” that was exactly the point. The whole point of gestures like this is so that racist assholes can wink at each other then pretend they were just saying OK when they get called out.

Man, I LOVED his takes on Star Wars with The Last Jedi. Still bummed that The Rise of Skywalker, despite having lot of great stuffs and ideas in it, ruined what made that movie great with its themes that would have elevate the franchise to newly unexplored places. Oh well.
