Well South Park doesn’t get a pass either since it’s philosophy of political nihilism where all forms of social change are bad and cultural mediocrity is the best way to go more or less helped lay the foundation for the alt-right.

Well it’s more because you lack basic empathy for other people’s criticisms and dismiss them so casually. It says a lot about who you are and your views on racial politics.

Let me guess, you’re white? Because only a white person would be this dense on how other cultures view how they’re portrayed in pop culture.

It’s the same with South Park. The show’s core philosophy of political nihilism, where people who advocate social change are terrible people and we should all live in mediocrity, has not changed simce the show started and may have played a role in influencing modern conservatism.

Worst part is they use the one character who’s usually seen as socially aware on the show to go “nope, I’m letting this one pass.”

I love the Simpsons but I still have to say that the racism surrounding Apu was always there, it’s just that nowadays we’re finally calling this type of stuff out more. You don’t get a free pass just because it’s from a time that people cared less.

Maybe if your show’s been on so long that one of your first characters is now a modern version of Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, you should just make something new.

I can’t believe this show is still on, but I can believe a show that stopped being funny 20 years ago has writers and producers this out of touch with the current cultural climate of America.
