I have, over the course of my life, known a handful of women who were sexually assaulted in some fashion. And this is just the ones who I knew well enough that they would share something like that, usually years after the fact. None of them reported their assaults to the police.

Hey, folks, we found Jim Spanfeller’s burner account

I recently went to a wine bar with someone who was a relative novice to wines. We ordered by the glass, because she was sampling different types to find her palate. It certainly would have been “cheaper” to just order a couple of bottles, but that wasn’t the point.

I found this story much more affecting than I had anticipated. Thanks! I have two teenaged daughters who are big into martial arts, who also enjoy the physicality of it and love to show off their own bumps and bruises, so that really resonated.

In one sense, it’s kind of good that this is all out in the open. We already know that Adam Schefter has a vested interest in the NFL being a profitable ongoing concern, and we also already know that in order to continue being a profitable ongoing concern that the NFL needs sponsorship dollars from brands. Everyone is

From my own personal experience, when I started doing Uber/Lyft a couple of years ago on a very part time basis, it was a relatively easy way to gross $25-40 an hour, even if you weren’t constantly booked. And you could count on pretty substantial paydays on high-demand days like NYE or Mardi Gras. Now...surge pricing

I live in a city where you can be driving along and the road you are on will change from “Street” to “Boulevard” and maybe back again, with no apparent reason why this should be so. Also, the names of many streets change without notice as you drive along. It’s a very difficult place to navigate without GPS unless you

I live in the Midwest, and the prices seem...pretty normal for a moderately upscale restaurant around these parts

My state has a mandatory retirement age for judges (70). Some of them it’s a real shame to see them go, because they’ve still got it, others it’s probably for the best.

I will say this...I don’t bet on sports. I can imagine, for people whose enjoyment of sports is derived significantly from gambling on the results, that having the “correct” results occur would be very important. I suspect that this is a not-insignificant motivation behind the spread of replay across all sports

What I am saying is that the joy of sports, for me, comes from a) experiencing joys/pains/frustrations/whatever in the moment and b) the memories of such experiences. VAR devalues both of those. It’s not worth it, to me, to devalue those things so steeply in order to achieve a technically correct “result” for

I think most people who are not in the legal system misunderstand appeals. For one thing, you don’t stop a trial in the middle to get an appellate ruling on (for example) whether certain evidence should or should not be allowed. Second, appeals are decided only on the record that was in front of the trial judge, not a

I am not a ref, and like all good sports fans I hate the refs. I love to hate the refs. And that’s exactly why I disapprove of VAR and other replay technology. Because it’s a truly memorable sports fan moment to join in with 20,0000 other people “REF YOU SUCK.” “Ref, you suck, but fortunately, after 2 minutes of

You might not understand this, but Billy summed it up perfectly:

Aren’t the officials part of the game? Isn’t their ability to judge the game and enforce the game’s rules part and parcel of the whole enterprise?

VAR supporters, from what I’ve gathered, seem to take it as a given that every call, or non-call, must be exactly correct within the rules (to the extent of the technological limits of high definition cameras and slow motion replay). Why?

Truth. I’m 45 and I don’t give a fuck what anybody thinks about my drink, or what I’m wearing. It’s very liberating.

Looking down your nose at comedy, from the company that brought us serious grapplers like The Gobbledygooker, Doink the Clown, and Al Snow/Head.

Very definitely. They are not claiming actual Native American heritage, more asserting their status as “real Americans” if you catch the drift.

The blonde-haired, blue eyed girl who lists her ethnicity as “Native American”
