I was thinking it was going to be an attempt to tame more of the gem monsters. A return of centipeetle, and maybe some new introductions.

While the seemingly easy transformations might appear to undercut the physical threat in fights, it could also be seen as a more PG way of showing someone writhing on the floor after getting punched in the gut.

My reaction to seeing the 15 second preview (where Connie realizes it is a love letter)-
"Oh. That is what this episode is about? ….oh…..OHHHH

This also works well because it shows that they are not going to shy away from the fact that Ruby and Sapphire are in a romantic relationship. No back pedaling here for the sake of imagined outrage.

The way that appearance plays into how healthy a gem fusion's relationship is certainly brings something interesting to the table. Extra parts and less than human appearance seems to indicate that the relationship is not good for them.

Another note: Since the complaint Connie hologram seemed disappointing, this could provide an interesting perspective to their fusion Stevonnie.

While Steven had clear intentions and strong emotions the first time he opened Rose's room, this time, it just seems too convenient and well timed in the conversation. Which brings up a question: Could Rose be awake in there? The room works off of gem power and imagination, so it would not be impossible for her to use

I feel that Steven's anxiety over whether the Gems blame him for Rose's absence may come from events such as Rose's Scabbard. While that episode may have had a lot more to do with Pearl's frustration that her relationship with Rose was not all she thought it was… that could also possibly extend to how she chose Greg

This seems like just an opportunity for the creators to blow off steam after the heavy nature of Steven Bomb.
