Al Fucking Jourgensen doesn’t know how many side projects he’s had. Don’t feel bad.

Goddamn old people music ruining my ‘90s circlejerk...

brb. Gotta listen to Pailhead. I don’t listen to too much Ministry anymore, but that particular project stays in rotation. (Ian McKaye & Al Jourgensen collaboration, if anyone’s not familiar).

I think I almost know enough physics to plot that jump.

Same here. It’s so disorienting to hear those dreamy, ethereal sounds at such brutal volumes. Around that time my band was in a very shoegaze/heavy-stoner phase. We all got the fancy custom molded earplugs because our practice space volumes were starting to kiss 130 dB (and a hair over) and regular foam wasn’t cutting

Further to my MBV comment in this chain, and because you mentioned Dino Jr.

Back when I was cool a decade ago and played out my standard rig was a 5150 half stack and a Super Reverb bi-amped. Shoegaze is fun!

the “threshold of pain”—the point at which you suffer irreversible hearing damage.

The M5 steering box is something I’ve looked at and considered. As far as a $3k+ exhaust or a $6k blower, no way, jose, when I can get two nice E39s for the cost of those two mods.

I’m not complaining about the steering feel in the 540i, but having experienced the r/p in the 525 first I kinda prefer it. Also, funny because I always felt the r/p had a heavier feel than the recirculating ball.

Mmmm...540iT. I had an E39 525iT that I loved, but it wasn’t quick. So I got a 540i/6 (no touring, unfortunately). I sold the wagon last year. I miss it, and I miss the M54 simplicity/reliability, and the rack & pinion steering, but I’ll be damned if I don’t love the V8. At this point I’m just looking for the perfect

I drive most every day and put 10k on my only car in the last two years, and that includes a 2000 mile road trip.

Thanks. I still maintain this is in Torch territory.

Is the lede photo an actual image of the drone? An accurate render?

*Giubo, not guibo. Also, those huge wheels are horrendous. And you could get a cherry E39 M5 for 21k. Or like two perfect E38s and a parts car. CP all the way.

Good on ya!

I’ll take it, and I’ll relish it while mourning all the idiots out there are going to lose health insurance.

Texas, Wyoming, Alabama and Washington—most commonly listed the Ford Thunderbird, MG TD, Chevy Bel Air, Porsche 911, respectively.

That’s a better story than mine. My wife and MIL have a good squirrel-in-cabin tale, but it’s not applicable here.

That’s obnoxiously annoying. What’s not quite as annoying is the OBC dinger on E39s. Driving from Chicago to Seattle, taking I90 straight over, it’s fun to increase the dinger from 70 in IL, WI, and MN, to 85ish in SD, to 105 in WY, back down a bit for MT..., and then the pass between Bozeman and Coeur d’Alene is full
