You come off like the fun police
You come off like the fun police
And yet this article is basically saying all cops suck and Brooklyn 99 needs to change everything about what makes it great because all cops suck and not a single cop is good. Did I mention that all cops suck and this show should reflect that?
Just so I’m clear, if the author had wanted to rant about how much he hates spam emails or loves Frida Kahlo paintings, would those have been approved articles for Kotaku also?
Yikes... this is one of the shittiest takes I’ve ever read.
I should ask him. He told me he and his partners were there to help people out.
They aren’t “cops” on the show. They are detectives. No one has a problem with detectives. Detectives don’t look for criminals. They respond to crimes and try and solve them.
Maybe we should Cancel Kotaku.
I find it funny that if I say all “person x” are bad because a select number of them have done terrible things, then I’m in the wrong, but the world believes all police are bad because a select number have done terrible things.
pull every Police Academy from the shelves.
~cause Nathan needs to save for a PS5. Are you new around here?
Because Grayson works for Kotaku. You’d think there would be a mandate that, if an article fits better one on of the other sister sites, it would get posted there, but there isn’t.
But why is this a Kotaku article?
Cool, more cancel culture.
I really feel bad for Nathan. Living in a world, where you want shows to be cancelled, because they bring joy to others’ lives, as they do not reflect the real world, and not everyone on the show is a bad person, but full of positivity. This is why cannot have nice things. Because people, like Nathan.
And although the article digs into it briefly, it bears repeating that the show has never operated in a bubble of “police are always good and people love the police”. They’ve constantly framed conflicts and even entire multi-episode arcs around the fact that there are problems with simply even being an officer, and…
Imagine actually getting offended by a comedy cop show, sounds like this the writer of this article needs to get their priorities straight because this is easily the WORST article I've ever barely skimmed through.
“Many episodes only vaguely include police work, or they don’t include it at all.”
But then you’d have people who are ostensibly public servants now working exclusively for monetary compensation. No need to respect everyone’s rights, no need to protect anyone but the highest bidder. That’s fine for something like Archer, but for these characters it would present a lot of conflicting issues.
