Does “alive” mean able to live on its own, or able to live if hooked up to machines?

What do you define as “independently existing” though? Because it wasn’t independently existing without significant medical intervention, and the article says it will need to be on oxygen forever.

I freaking love this show. I'm pretty fed up with Danny too and I'm anxious to see what happens. Also, how great is it to turn on a show and see some body diversity?

Lucky! Mine started around age 10. Parents were very religious and I hadn’t been exposed to anything sexual and my parents had not explained seeds to me at all, so they were purely hormonal and I had no idea WTF was going on...

Funny how that works, right? I'm pretty super liberal and people are always surprised to learn that I actually did the bootstraps thing, coming out of a poor white family and clawing my way up working multiple jobs with no help. And, yes, I still support things like welfare funding and universal healthcare.

Psst... If you have Capriotti's in your state, all year round they have a sandwich called "The Bobby" that's got roasted turkey (not lunch meat), stuffing, cranberry sauce, and mayo. You're welcome :)

When I was 15, a twenty-something intoxicated man held a loaded .22 pistol to my head and told me, “don’t be a bitch” after he hit on me and I told him off. Luckily, he was so drunk that he forgot what he was doing and wandered off without, you know, shooting me in the fucking temple.

My grandma once told me “It’s too bad you weren’t born black. Black women carry their weight better.”

I always thought women with larger noses (Fran Drescher, Barbara Streisand) were really attractive. Grew up in a place where I could probably count the number of Jewish residents on fingers and toes (it was pretty much all Scandinavian), so I always saw Jewish women as kind of classy and exotic.

You and I may be long-lost sisters.

What do you get a boss who believes that “bonus” = vacation time?

I’m usually l pretty stoic bit I’m finishing up grad school and working and so so so stressed and just ugly sobbing at the drop off a hat lately. Poor hubby. Never cried at work though - I’ve got too much responsibility to cry at work. Which is a big part of the stress.

Is this the girl with the boyfriend who was always like, “I can’t spend time with you or watch our kid because RODEO ALL THE TIME”? I hope she didn’t marry that guy.

I’m beginning to think that rioting is going to be the only thing that will shut this bullshit down.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve been trying to lose weight (the legit way too - clean eating and exercise) and it’s going sooooo slllooooowwww and I’m really fucking tired of celebrities giving us weight loss tips. If I had a personal trainer and a nutritionist and a personal chef I’d be in great shape too. No

Gabourey is KILLING IT right now. And she’s such a great role model. She could easily fall into playing the victim and instead she just ignores the hate and continues kicking ass.

I’ve gotten the “He was hitting on YOU?” thing too. One time, a coworker asked me to accompany him to a social event, and when I told another coworker what happened (I was in a relationship, so it wasn’t happening anyway), she was like, “Oh, he asks everyone out.” Um, excuse me? I know I’m not particularly

It is exhausting and we do it. We do it because we’re taught to do it. We read magazine articles about how to get a “bikini ready body.” We see photoshopped pictures of gorgeous celebrities and wonder if we’ll ever be able to look like that, not realizing that no one looks like that. Boys compare us to each other - no

I’ve gotten along much better with my female coworkers in the past than my current male coworkers get along with each other. They’re always in a competition. A whole lot of women - including myself - really, honestly do not give two shits about the attention of men. In fact, a lot of us try to actively discourage it.

Yeah I didn’t experience too much of that either. The “popular girls” were certainly not very nice to me, but I didn’t hate them and they were never openly hostile. I was bullied mercilessly in middle and high school, but it was always by guys, not other girls.
