Yeah, this article is taking some liberties with the facts of the case. She was working as a prostitute, making money sleeping with men — she solicited the man at a Sonic drive-in, and went home with him. Now, she was being worked by a pimp, and was only 16, so it can be argued she was being manipulated and forced

She shot a man in his sleep in the back of his head. Sure, he probably deserved it, and she had a heart-breaking existence until then, but still this is pre-meditated murder. She could have just robbed him and left, he was sleeping after all (according to the ME report).....but she killed him.

I could see how you’d miss it, since this article pretty drastically misrepresents the facts of the case, but the medical examiner concluded the man was shot in the back of the head, while sleeping in his own bed. That’s a pretty far cry from “stand your ground” in any way or form; and for the record SYG is a terrible

Wait, I’m confused as to why there’s a second, and thoroughly inferior, review of this book? Dom did a really good job with his review, and at least gave time to some of the nuance of the discussion — this reads like a biased hit-piece, no better than Hoge’s book in its failure to view the topic objectively.

I’ll admit, I’m biased because I have two friends on the coaching staff in GB, but still I see McCarthy as a solid coach — and believe me, as a Vikings fan, it pains me to defend the Packers in any way.

Here’s the thing.....baseball is a stupid long season. Its 6 freaking months, most of which are filled with games in front of like 6k people in Cincinnati on a Tuesday. Maybe some HS coach somewhere wants Machado to hustle in those games, but for the normal person, that’s not the beef with Machado’s hustle. Its Game 3

This is a dumb move by Donald. When you play the game at this level, specially interior line, you know that playing rough, late hits, grabbing, pulling, etc, are just part of the game; the only time things get more serious is when you talk about stuff that’s legit dangerous or aiming to injure, that’s beyond the scope

You are highlighting the problem with McKee’s research exactly though — when McKee and her team examine a brain, it almost always has CTE, when any other outside organizattion examine a brain, they see a much lower incidence. This fact has been universal, and its nonsensical to assume the one organization consistently

I liked the story, but the piece I think you missed here is the extent to which BU and McKee’s team are really driving the media narrative and leveraging the headlines (maybe intentionally) to drive their own funding and notoriety, potentially with faulty science.

Um, I didn’t say they bought Fox Sports....I said they bought the FSN Regional Sports Networks, which they did. Feel free to check their public filings to confirm. They didn’t get FS1 FS2 or B10, but got everything else.

Maybe its implied, but with the Fox Studios acquisition, Disney will also be the majority owner of Hulu, gets to bolster ESPN with all the FSN regional channels, takes majority stakes in NatGeo & Vice, and gets the whole Fox Studios library and rights (X-Men, Avatars, Predator, Alien, Deadpool, Simpsons, all of FX,

Sorta, I mean how is that son 37 years old. He sounds and acts like he’s a scared teenager.

Huh? What about these mega-schools with enrollment over 5,000 where only 2% of the kids get to play a sport because “making the team” is so competitive? That’s seems a bigger problem than one team giving out scholarships, no?

I can see how this is counter to the spirit of amateur athletics, but given the enrollment of just 172 kids, it pales relative to the super-schools across the country where enrollment is north of 5,000 making it impossible for all but the best players to participate.

I’m not sure saying “USC was railroaded by the NCAA” is an accurate depiction of what went down.

I don’t mean to bash this article directly, because the problem is just as much with the supplement industry and the American culture around popping pills, but the entire premise of this article is unsound and irresponsible to decry Omega-3s broadly based on this research.

The problem with Carter is that he really doesn’t fit any role that great.

Um, Bird hit 11 HRs in 178 PAs as a rookie.....what else do you want from the guy? Plus, his MiLB track record suggests he’s going to walk a ton too.....it really doesn’t get much better for a guy his age.

And Pats fans wonder why everyone hates them....

I don’t think its about a hangover, its about focus and distratction — those guys did something to create a media storm, create distraction, and make teammates question their focus on the game. Then when it came time to perform, they failed massively — with OBJ putting up his worst performance of the year.
