You might want to look up the documentary “Harvest of Shame” about how agricultural workers were treated in this country in the 1950s. There’s also a pretty famous book called “The Grapes of Wrath” that, although fiction, is based on research the author did with real agricultural workers.
There were town in CT that didn’t have power for a week, whole towns, in 2012 when there was an October snowstorm.

Why read a 7 year old study over and over again? Also it's what happens underground that has people concerned about fracking. A picture of a gas well really demonstrates nothing if the water of the house next door is flammable.
