Hmm idk I would think it would be better if we started slightly reducing our population. Our population is FAR over the limit in terms of sustainability. Of course we would also have to start reducing how much resources we use as well.

I try to remember it is more about the question asker being curious and less about any judgement on my situation, but it is such a rude question! Whether the person being asked is actively trying or not trying to get pregnant, it is very intrusive.
Oh my gosh *no* we need fewer people, not more. Pregnancy is not purely *necessary* anymore, guys. At least a few people have to reproduce, but not many comparatively.
Nope. It is not ok to have sex in a home where you are a guest. Unless your host very clearly told you that you are free to be intimate with whoever and you didn’t bring it up first. Then I suppose it’s ok because you have the host’s blessing without having put them in the uncomfortable situation of having to tell you…
The problem is that historically, the only effective tool we’ve seen that dramatically changes market behavior is taxation. Good luck getting Congress to pass a meat tax when half of Congress doesn’t even acknowledge silly things like global warming are actually real. We’re all screwed.
The interesting one would be to get a 6 ft. 4, 240lb gay man to catcall them and see what happens.
That’s what I’m thinking happens. They skip out on the bill.
I was curious too since the article mentions that they contact doctors. But I bet a lot of them are going to whatever ER accepts patients without insurance and they pay nothing.
Nope. Best practices for suicide reporting recommend not using “committed,” which sounds like a crime or, to religious communities, like a sin, and “kill yourself” is just insensitive, crude, and poorly phrased. “Died by suicide” is the phrasing recommended by mental health professionals and the American Foundation…
“But what I think they meant is that in certain lighting, at certain angles I am able to embody certain cisnormative beauty standards.”
Yes! Exactly. I think people don’t understand the backstory. They don’t understand that this is someone who’s basically accusing two independent rape victims of lying and melodrama, because... Ludlow is one of the good old boys? Famous and powerful within his profession?
Thank you so much for posting this. I can’t believe so many people here are defending Kipnis after her comments about false rape accusations being just as harmful as a professor raping students. It’s really disgusting.
The mattress protest is probably a bridge too far, but I cannot for the life of me understand why a…
I would like for people who have only heard her side of the story to look more into the facts on the ground. Here’s a more fairminded characterization of why there was an investigation into Kipnis: http://dailynous.com/2015/05/30/nor… Excerpt:
I think the title of this post is misleading. Long story short: a female undergrad accused Ludlow of sexual assault and a grad student independently accused him of rape. Kipnis’s article basically accused the graduate student of lying, of being melodramatic, and of harming Ludlow. Title IX prohibits retaliation…
How many people thought badass Wilding woman saw one of her own deceased kids amongst that group of kid-wight zombie horrors? I thought she for sure saw her own offspring there. But it seems not everyone did. Is there a gender divide? A parental divide?
That impressed me too. Just making her life her own story, having it be about what SHE does rather than what was done TO her, is a notable achievement. ETA on that note, kudos for not mentioning the abductor’s name. This isn’t his story!
I’m going to go a step further and say that it bothers me even when strangers do it. Granted, I acknowledge that people who are likely to pass on disease are perfectly within their rights to have as many children as they want. But I think it can be a pretty selfish decision. I see it a lot of it on support boards that…
YOU ARE OFF THE SEX/BODILY FUNCTIONS BEAT FOREVER, MISTER.
I'm not interested in seeing (most) men go around topless. But sometimes they do, and do you know how I cope?
