There’s something horrifying and beautiful about this, beautiful yet horrifying...basically, the defense team pulled off what was a standard rape case, patriarchal smear campaign of the plaintiffs. But it didn’t work this time. I’m torn between this anger at the realization that there has been a STANDARD smear

I could be wrong on this, but a LOT has changed in the last three years. Seems some of that might’ve seeped into the zeitgeist of America’s jury pool.

Maybe now the 19 Women Trump assaulted can get their day in Court.

Finally. A concrete step toward justice against a living monster.

Thank you far all of your reporting on this. In particular thanks to this glimpse into sides of trials we don’t often see.

This is a win for all of us victims. This is a win for all of us who’ve been silenced. This is mostly the win of ms. Constand.

Her Twitter is one of my happy places. And give me her and John over Kimye (wanna barf just typing that) any time.

We definitely need more people on this earth with the wit and kindness of her and John.

Something that drove me crazy while watching the press conference yesterday (besides them being totally dismissive of Michelle McNamara) was the DA who just had to throw in his “police are getting a bad rap these days” two cents which was then followed by, “yes, the killer/rapist/robber was a cop and likely a cop

I heard on NPR that although she may not be credited with cracking any part of the case, she kept it in the public eye and that kept tips coming in - she absolutely does deserve to be acknowledged. It’s noble, at any rate, that she was invested in analyzing the case and seeking justice.

I’m stunned that Jez hasn’t touched this story all week. It seems quite intentional, but I can’t figure out why; it’s the kind of thing they would have been all over in the Gawker era.

That’s a good point. I bring it up because was chatting with my boyfriend last night about the incident, and his takeaway about the reveal that the guy had no ties to ISIS and the like is that “At least it wasn’t a REAL terrorist.” It really felt like a punch in the gut because the suspect’s ties to the incel

That’ll bring the incels to the comments. They really are some maladjusted motherfuckers.

Has Jezebel reported on the Toronto van attack? I keep hoping that they’ll touch on it, especially with the revelation of the suspect’s alleged ties to misogynistic groups and the allegation that he may have targeted women.

I mean, if cops are shamed into digging up a cold case that they then solve, do they ever stand up and go “Thanks for shaming us into looking into this”. Heeeeelll no. They go “We were always working on this, and this just goes to show we never give up.”

RE: Michelle McNamara and the Golden State Killer. I keep thinking about how John List evaded police until his story was featured on America’s Most Wanted, although that’s literally just law enforcement saying “Look, we can’t find this guy, can regular people in American help us out?” But McNamara’s book really

What? This case IS about the crimes committed. You mean this article? Cause there wouldn’t be article in the first place if apparently “this guy’s wife” hadn’t spent a lot of time working on this case and helped the police. You can’t ignore the fact that the police had nothing for years and years then it comes out the

Exactly. How hard is it to share a little credit with the dead woman who spent years working on the case?

Yesterday was the first time I heard about this killer and all that; but it seemed like HUGE news and I wanted to support McNamara even if she’s gone so I went and bought the book. This cop is making me want to kick him in the teeth.

Murder goes unsolved for 3o years.
