You know....I really enjoyed the game. But god damn was it weird how unimportant the ship became after all that work and story revolving it. Mid’s sidequest about making (and deciding not to make) an airship was nice and made a good point about how dangerous technology was, but god damn it I wanted to turn the boat in

Yeah everyone was pretty much just a very small view of what they were like as a person, and then you don’t spend much time with them. Cid is really the only character who feels like a really engaging part member, and I wish they’d kept that level of engagement going. Everyone else, except maybe Gav and Byron, was

It is always wild to me that the archetype of the scientist in these types of movies is someone who is 100% professional and only concerned with science in their lives. The nerdy gremlin fanboy is so much more accurate and so much more interesting. What they did to his character in the second one was so damn stupid.

Surprised no one mentioned Gav. He becomes Clive’s best friend over the game, is the one who has the most realistic responses to the insanity of the situations you end up in, and he’s just a complete badass who doesn’t realize how tough he is. He’s the Sokka of the group. No magic, no Eikon, no special tools of any

You know I finally realized I was old when I got excited about delays or other things that would physically stop me from being able to get a game because I already had too much shit to play.

Yeah I was shocked they didn’t mention those electric guitar riffs when the music changed in some of the Eikon fights or when you summoned Ifrit. Those were fantastic and really helped set the scene. Masayoshi Soken’s music was just stellar, and I’m glad he got to continue some of his amazing work in 14 to this game

He’s definitely good, and I loved FF16, but I agree. He’s not that good. I mean for about 1/3rd of the game he’s barely even the protagonist because Cid steals every god damn scene he’s in.

Yeah there were a few things that they could have done interesting movies with, but they used them up in the series. The Crystalline Entity could have made for an amazing movie where they explore this truly alien entity and wrestle with the problem of how to handle all of its destruction. The episode with Lore and the

I feel like a couple of those deliveries were rough, but overall I was way more impressed with this than I expected. It had a good amount of weirdness and whimsey as well as looking like it’ll be pretty upbeat without being so over the top like the Depp/Burton one. I doubt this will be a masterpiece, but I’ll have fun

Sekiro might be okay, depending on the nature of the deal since From works with multiple publishers. I also doubt From would be okay with their games being Xbox/PC only because of how bad the install base is in Japan. It might hamper releases of Sekiro, but if they make a follow up it could be fine.

I like to imagine at this point Worf is just so tired of suggesting security measures he has completely stopped bothering. Or he just decides to say “fuck it, lets see what happens” because he knows the ship blowing up is the only way he’ll get to a different show and get some character growth.

I think a big part of it is they didn’t want to make them all about dealing with the Romulans because that would feel like a rehash of the TOS stuff dealing with Klingons. They also didn’t want to deal with anything related to the Dominion (even though Insurrection was during the war) since it was another show’s

Great way to handle it in retrospect. I’ve always said I didn’t mind Kirk dying, but damn it he needed to die in command of an Enterprise, going out heroically. His whole post series arc was him just not being able to accept retirement and wanting to keep being the hero.

Agreed. Outside of the nice Ciri relationship moments the main story is pretty weak. I had played all 3 games since they first made it over here (including the insane mess of the first one) and wow did they completely wiff it at actually making the King of the Wild Hunt and the White Frost anything remotely resembling

The books are terrible when it comes to the longer storyarcs, though. The saga part is not great writing and has some absolutely insane things in it. Changing things from the books is the way to go, but they’re changing the wrong stuff. They’re changing the parts that DO work, and coming up with some truly bizarre

I did that job in HS and college in the 00s, and man it was wild in the peak DVD era. Even though I worked at a Blockbuster, we still ended up with just insane things on our shelves because they put damn near everything on DVD so I got to broaden my horizons a lot. This was also the PS2/Gamecube era and they had been

They also don’t know anything useful enough to change things. They won’t know any actual details of the war, or any important dates, they won’t know how to actually make any level of advanced technology, they likely will be less useful than anyone of the time period. They’d only be a body, and considering the issues

Of course no matter how well it sells, it will never be enough for Square because as a company they are the reigning champions of wild expectations.

Now that I’ve actually beaten FF16 and even played some of the start again on New Game+ I can tell you that the game’s prologue/demo ends up being a lot less indicative of the rest of the game. The GoT political stuff is a lot less brutal and much more in the background, the main character is WAY less of an emo

With everything that is out right now it is really hard to justify playing Horizon FW. Its a fun game, but without the underlying mystery of “what the fuck happened to the world” that you slowly work out in the first game, I found myself a lot less engrossed in what was going on. Its a shame because on a technical
