Plus she’s implying she’s the only black actress who could have done the movie as “well” as she did.

“For so many years, nobody knew who the [f–k] she was”

She would clearly be so much better served by letting this go. I have the feeling that her PR people probably know this, but she feels a righteous anger even though she is so, so wrong, has bee wrong, and is fully committed to staying wrong.

She doesn’t seem to realize that the complaints weren’t that the nose and paint made her look ugly because those features are ugly, the nose and paint looked ugly because they were poorly done, obviously fake and made her look like a melting ball of wax.

1) Sure Zoe, if you identify as Black of course you’re Black. Moving on.

this woman is so dumb! I don’t remember anybody being mad she had a prosthetic nose because it was ugly? people were mad because the fake nose and the darker shade of makeup was proof she was not right for the role.... she is trying to change goal post into a defense of balck beauty now? GTFOH...

When my brother first entered the second grade, his (white female) teacher reported that he wasn’t ready, and he went back to his first grade classroom and was held back a year. This fact always confused me because I’ve always personally thought my brother was very smart. But his teachers never seemed to treat him

I never even thought about the different ethnicities on the boxes, good on them. Yeah, I did boy scouts and it was a complete waste of time. Doesn’t selling cookies teach some valuable lessons things like business skills, responsibility, etc.? Every time I see them with a table set up I think how I would have been way

Exactly. And the Girl Scout organization was built on inclusion, which is awesome, and they continue to do a better job at that than the Boy Scouts. Honestly, I think the first time I saw some ethnicities as a child was through boxes of girl scout cookies, if that means anything.

But the money goes to adorable children, not some jerk who probably donated to Donald Trump.

Gunshine and Painbows posted this above (or possibly below, at this point):

I read something like that too. He said that it wasn’t out of meanness, but rather a “desire for sport”. Fuck that guy.

That’s one way to deal with it, I suppose? I can’t decide if I think the segregation was protective, because the school realized it couldn’t stop its student body’s overwhelming racism, or just plain old racist segregation on their part too. No telling, I guess.

Oh, sure, just “boys being boys,” eh? Just a little friendly kicking of a girl who’s been bullied physically all school year. Nice rationalizing.

Well, Mr. Germer, if as you say there have been no incidents of this nature before, then yes; it is probably not the fault of the swing, but rather the nasty racist little shits “playing” with the swing.

Thank you for explaining the need for braces that were used to hold people still, during the long exposure times, when even a slight movement would result in a blur. Since most people didn't have many photographs taken, that would have been extremely disappointing! I also agree that the Victorians weren't adverse to

I love these, and other post-mortem photos of the era. For most families, it would be the only picture they had of their loved one who had passed away, due to the prohibitive cost of this relatively new technology.

Personally, I don't think this is strange. I think it's really sort of beautiful and moving. Mortality was something the Victorians embraced and these would be the only chance they would have to have a picture of a loved one. I can completely understand why they would do this. It's just like hair jewelry. They wanted
