What is allowed varies from cult to cult, but what is usually prevented are close relationships with people who left the cult. How many friends of you were in the group but left? I think there were moments where they could have become friends. And there was at least a lot of history between them (including their shared grief over Will Gardner) and she destroyed that for Peter. I was also thinking of Cary and Kalinda.
