One of the artists in the 2008-2010 Guardians run drew Rocket literally like a regular racoon that talked and would walk around, complete with big, fat hindquarters. It's the best version of him. There were other artists in that run who apparently didn't know what a raccoon was, though.

I'm glad they made Rocket look pretty much like a real raccoon (James Gunn had a live raccoon on the set as a reference). Right choice.

I feel like the version we got was perfect. It managed to make Rocket look... exactly like a raccoon. Not a grizzled war veteran raccoon, not a super powered raccoon, just a raccoon that walked around 2 legs more than most raccoons.
