Dude...is that a bug-deflector on the hood? Stock? People still use those?!?!
Great movie. Great series, in fact. I wouldn't classify them as documentaries, though. More like an introspective look at specific riders & locations...or something like that.
+1 for Holy Shitballs. Still one of my favorite expressions.
Anthropomorphism seems to be a maybe more general explanation than just likening them to animals and relation to motion, while I agree that it makes sense. In general, assigning human form to inanimate objects happens when we have close relationships or interactions with things, and car culture is definitely a very…
Request/suggestion for your and Tavarish's posts - would it be possible to add a link at the very bottom for the ebay or listing source for the vehicles you post about which have specific listings you're referencing? I usually read through the post, then go click the link, but have to scroll around to find where it…
Obligatory
That term should never be used. Ever.
For all the things I have had to worry about on my old E36 and current E46 (VANOS, cooling system, oil separator, subframe, suspension bushings...) I'm quite glad this isn't on my list. The BMW is actually pretty darn awesome for the DIY'er.
Oh man, I'd love to drive play ping pong on one of these. I mean, just the SOUND is fantastic!
I agree with Ray: the F-150 and other "half-ton" trucks should be separate from the heavy duty, since they are completely different chassis (chassises? chasses? How the hell do you pluralize "chassis"?). I think that would mostly satisfy Andrew. Mostly.
I know it's because this is just the prototype, but exposed gearbox linkage should be a thing.
Just because it has a bed doesn't mean it's a truck in the sense that this table is comparing body on frame, configurable chassis and cab trucks. The ridgeline is more like a 4wd minivan with a bed. I really want to like them, but there's not enough of a mpg benefit over traditional trucks for me to make the jump. I…
I like the way you think.
This is true, as many of them don't factor in idling time at stop lights, etc. But...at least the srticle is reporting something other than EPA numbers and giving a description of the driving situation, which if taken with a grain of salt, is still interesting. Fuelly is a pretty bitchin' resource, but requires many…
No BMWs in the top 20?! Woo hoo!!! Good thing auto insurance isn't influenced by douchebag driving/parking/clothing, or those of us owning this particular brand of automobile would be SCREWED!
That sometimes it's justifiable to make your wife happy, and me less worried about her driving our 2 kids around in a high-mileage POS just waiting for the next maintenance item to leave her without a car for multiple days, or to deal with borrowed/rented cars, or to leave her stranded. (I realize a new car can still…
Good thing they're not made of copper...
How are the front seats compared to the last generation (well, and compared to the other half-ton trucks, but I'm familiar with the last generation, specifically 2004 and 2012 MY)? The 2004 seats suck for comfort or support, and my skinny ass slides all over the place on the leather. 2012 was better. Both Lariats.
I've heard of that... Need to watch it. Thanks for the reminder!
