Especially since Moffat took over the female characters have really gone down hill. I'm not saying there are not moments of hope, or some real positives that have developed, and certainly a number of people have commented and noticed that the female characters have come a long way since the old damsel-in-distress

Again, I'm sorry. My point was not that I felt the role should be closed off to female actors, but instead was genuinely curious about what people hoped a female Doctor would bring to the show. I wasn't so much asking people to justify the change as to explain to me what they hoped a female Doctor would do

I think I was a bit unclear. When I said a woman playing Hamlet I didn't mean a female actress playing the part as a man, I meant changing the character of Hamlet to a female part, and seeing how that would affect the play. And yes, I do feel there would be some legitimate differences in how the character would be

Yes, to some extent I have that worry myself. It's not a justification for not making the change, but it does seem likely that Moffat will sex up a female Doctor, or make her weak or helpless or prone to stripping like he seems to do with most of his female characters.

I agree with you on the need for more positive female role models. I think that there is a lot of good there, and it should be developed.

I'm sorry. I have apparently expressed myself less elegantly than I wished to. Let me try again.

I did ask this question a while ago. However I have thought about the idea quite a bit since then, and find that, in many ways I am not as opposed to the change now as I was then. However I am still legitimately interested in understanding what people hope this change will produce. As for putting this decision under a

See, that's the question I have though, what are those story possibilities? This is what I am curious about.

Yes, but for a show that embraces change, look how poorly fans react to that change. 8th Doctor says he's half human, they retcon that out of existence. 9th and 10th Doctors have a romance with Rose, people are upset. 11th Doctor get's married, people shout that they hate the show. And these are not limited reactions,

It's also cannon that the Doctor lies, a lot. And even when talking about the change that another time lord went through he still refers to that time lord as "he." So his story might be a bit shaky.

Before a huge war breaks out in the comments about this, and I'm sure it will, can I ask a single question? The last letter really was getting at this point and I think it is one that needs to be answered fully by anyone advocating for a gender change in the Doctor. The question is: Why?

Sigh, the only two things on this last I actually understood were pool noodles and pizza :-(

The sad part? This Lego model is actually more interesting and well thought out than Arkham Origins. Let's turn this model into a game!

See, I saw it another way. As a watcher of classic who, the Doctor killed a lot in his younger days. He shot people with guns, blew up space ships, help armies destroy their enemies. The time war was actually the culmination of his life of violence and struggle, a kind of terrible realization of what he had become

"In all my travelling throughout the universe, I have battled against evil, against power-mad conspirators. I should have stayed here. The oldest civilization: decadent, degenerate, and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen - they're still in the nursery compared to us. Ten million

Like I said, there is no reason why a few of them couldn't have survived, and started anew. But to have this be his driving motivation for the last several years, and then just recon it away in one move (which really doesn't make much sense) diminishes everything that he has done up to this point, and makes a lot of

I remember reading a short story by Ben Bova a while back about someone who made his living piloting a ship whose job it was to gather up all of that debris from Earth's orbit. I think it was one of the Sam Gunn tales. Perhaps it;s once again time for fiction to become fact?

In a perfect world? Both!

I know they wanted to bring the Time War full circle, but honestly keeping most of the Time Lords dead, and keeping the blame fully on the Doctor, would have been much better than what we got. I'm not opposed to some time lords sneaking through the cracks, and I honestly see no reason why a few could not have escaped,
