The sloppiness undercuts many arguments you can make against the Fake News crazies. They do report untrue things. They don’t always follow up. I see it as ineptitude instead of malice, but if you have a certain political bent its probably easy to go the conspiracy theory route.

Accusations of Fake News aside, there is a real problem with cable news. They are on 24/7. They have to fill time. They are their own networks. They have to care about ratings.
