Awesome that you can see the heat shield fall away. Well, now they know where that landed!

"Copy that mohawk guy. Jesus H Christ JPL, I am on Fucking Mars."
"Granted, you don't have to be awake for the process, but what I mean is going to sleep in one body and waking up in another. How is that facilitated in a copy paste method rather than a transfer method? "
Curiosity first message: "JPL, are you seeing this? I can't believe I am on Fucking MARS!"
There are lots of reasons why these first photos look so bad.
does mars even have enough gravity to hang on to a full earth like atmosphere? And what about the lack of a magnetic field to protect the planet from radiation?
I'm telling you that none of that matters if the sequence is as such - the original is put under, transfer/copy/whatever is done, and the original goes away, you/copy/whatever wakes up in new body. This is exactly the same as taking a nap and waking in your same body as far as the owner is concerned.
Not so for the Atlanta summer Olympics. They had a master plan to integrate the facilities into the life of the city, but it never comes off as cleanly as hoped.
Ok - I am going on the assumption that the duplication/transfer/copy process is absolute and the "new" consciousness is identical to the source. The person experiences nothing different.
First, implicit in your statement is that somehow a "copy" would be less legitimate than the "original". That depends on the tech, but if the copy was identical, just as a computer file if duplicated is identical to the original, then the fact that one is a copy just does not matter.
so no Kuato. sad.
Well then I think the process has been spoiled, or contaminated in some way.
yeah, I think if the resultant did not have the ability to sing the same way, with the same feeling, that this would indicate that there was something lacking, flawed in the transfer. Not that people would not elect to do it rather than die, but then it clearly would not be the same.
I understand what they are thinking, I just believe it is completely irrelevant to the person going through the process. Sure he knows the original is "dead" - they had to consent to it. And sure the technicians had to "Kill" the original, presumably mortally ill you, and dispose of the body.
I don't know how involved Browning is now, but I'm going back 20yrs, before their movement had any serious traction. Browing was working right there with Lovins.
thanks for taking a look
1961 here, so that gives me license to criticize. Also being at the tail end of that generation I can disown much of their behavior. But briefly the baby boomers have tended to "use up" everything the were given, and leave ruined scraps behind. Great accomplishments, great selfishness. I don't know if we'll ever un-do…
No, but in all fairness not much of anything has been built here for the past 3 years. If you do look back at my blog posts following the work you'll find that its something I've been developing over many years. Its only after the recession hit I had the time to develop the illustrations and create the web site to…
But you are never in the passenger seat if it is done properly. You are put under, you wake in a new body. You are in the drivers seat the entire time.
