All sounds reasonable, except Musk's "we'll just adjust the software" comment. That sounds like a particularly good way to blow up a space craft. Just change the safety parameters instead of figuring out what happened. Just ask NASA - they've been good at that before.

I agree - its folly. The Discovery from 2001 makes much more sense. A sphere is the easies and strongest pressure vessel, and the long spine keeping the reactors far from the crew just makes sense.

Its nice to see somebody advocating for this, but a more realistic spacecraft to pin your hopes on would be Discovery from 2001. Discovery is actually plausible by today's tech. I see some wisdom is scaling it up for a larger crew, and also because Discovery's centrifuge habitat was simply too small to be a workable…

I think they would have to isolate the wearer more than a scuba suit. Who knows what the atmosphere might have in it - or bio hazards for that matter.

These are believable too, not as a spacesuit, but as a low pressure breathing suit.
