As much as I like comedy, there are so many stories like this that make the clubs look like just totally hostile places. And that’s not even mentioning the way some of the women in comedy describe their experiences.

Ya, this happened to me at a comedy club (Yuk Yuks). The warm up acts were pretty funny and only vaguely vulgar. The headliner came out and it was over the top vulgar and misogynist. One of our group took offense and stood up to object - he went off on us like a crazy person. We left and I have never gone back. I

A bunch of really horrible people, judging from that crowd reaction to his behavior.

Who is still booking George Lopez for shows?

“Sit your fuckin’ ass down! Sit your fuckin’ ass down! I’m talking, bitch. So sit your fucking ass down!” The rest of the audience loves this, so he keeps going and going, like the Energizer bunny’s haggard older brother.

Hate speech is not free speech.

I’ve actually been listening to a lot of his speeches, he doesn’t do a single speech without directly attacking and creating a mob against at least one person or being objectively racist.

Before anyone says, “it’s free speech, just ignore it”, his legion of followers are a bunch of sexless 4chan orcs who send death threats to women/minorities online and like to do all sorts of stuff with your public info.

Pieter Sittler, a spokesperson for the Berkeley Campus Republicans clarified that “he gives a voice to repressed conservative thought on American college campuses” and uses “levity and humor” to get his point across.

Don’t normalize Nazis. Punch ‘em in the face.

Why are these universities even booking him to begin with? The likelihood that there is going to be a protest and the fallout in the press is almost certain...moreso at a place like Berkeley.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a relative who lives Up North. She goes on a walk every day on the roads near her cottage, and one morning saw a wolf on the other side of the road, just sitting there like a dog, watching her. She said she excitedly told her neighbor that this was the first time she’d ever seen

I also do not understand the real bizarro world we live in where a thrice-divorced, sexual assaulting, lewd, clearly not Christian man who supported abortion until the last year and a half and cheated on all of his wives could become the leader of the Republican party, but truth can be stranger than fiction, I suppose.

Yeah it’s not NEARLY as far fetched as an orange buffoon who openly bragged about assaulting women, building a wall with mexico that mexico would pay for and accepting payments from foreign governments winning the US election.

It has completely changed the atmosphere of the coming years and created a monument that we can point to and say, “This”.

The Boston women’s march was also amazing! Elizabeth Warren and Maura Healey were fantastic and the energy on the common was amazing and the signage was A+++. Much love to all the sister marches and to anyone who couldn’t march but was with us in spirit. <3

It really warmed my heart to see so many families with kids at the Oakland march. It was doubly cool to see all the signs they made (my kids included!).

Goddamn all of these wonderful parents. Those kids are so lucky.

Jenna: “Once Trump got elected, I was like, I’m going to be here—and comments I got from other people in my life that voted for him, like ‘I don’t understand why you’re even going, it’s not like you can change the presidency.’ And I was like, okay, thank you, because now I know for sure that I’m going.”

Proudest day of my 54 years. I was moved to tears just in the Metro; the energy and electricity and excitement and yes, the anger. I marched with my girlfriend and a torn meniscus and I am exhausted and happy.
