Yes, I remember that while talking to Davros, the Doctor was able to surreptitiously scan the base/his surroundings with the sunglasses on.

I can't stand either Justin Bieber or Ed Sheeran, but together they were responsible for "Love Yourself," which I can't help but love. The line "My mama don't like you, and she likes everyone" is such a great burn.
Yes, I agree that they should have started that storyline earlier instead of going with the "Impossible Girl" theme and then the Danny/Doctor conflict. At the same time, I did love "Listen," and Danny was integral to that.
Really enjoyed this episode even though the ending was rushed and full of plot holes. Love, love Bill; she's exactly what Twelve needed after the angst of losing Clara and River. Glad to see the Doctor simply having adventures and not trying to navigate a fraught relationship (though I did find Twelve and River very…
Just watched it last night—loved the Ricky Baker song. And "No Child Left Behind." and "Majestical." and the haikus. Waititi is a great director of children; I really enjoyed "Boy" from a few years ago. I think what he should do next, after Thor, is a full-fledged musical. With his Conchords-background and…
I know it's not technically an action film, and it opened in Europe the year before, but I will always remember 1999 for Run Lola Run, which was just exciting for me as The Matrix, in terms of playing with film genres and techniques.
Some Crowded House titles would work:
"Love you 'til the Day I Die"
"Hole in the River"
"World Where You Live"
"Sister Madly"
"I Feel Possessed"
"Better Be Home Soon"
"Into Temptation"
"Fall at Your Feet"
I get the feeling Jimmy Fallon secretly wants to BE Harry Styles; he wants to be a cute, harmless boy-bander with tons of devoted fangirls. No need to be political, no need to be deep. Tons of love with little responsibility. Two of the skits last night had Jimmy singing in boy band mode: "Take Me Back" and "Civil…
I know! Journey Blue, the duo from Time Heist, Rigsy. Heck, even Shona from Last Christmas! All of them would have been interesting to have in the TARDIS, to offset the intense focus on Clara. (I think having Danny become a companion would repeat the Amy/Rory dynamic too closely.)
Maybe that's why Twelve's had Nardole as his "companion" for this span; maybe, as a robot, Nardole's less likely to rebel/demand anything of him or distract him from dealing with the vault? (Plus, Nardole's a nice link back to River.)
Thanks for the clarification!
I adore Capaldi and have faith that over time, people will come to appreciate his Twelve as a much needed contrast to the more outwardly "cheerful" Ten and Eleven. He might not be as beloved as past Doctors, but I think he'll be respected, if just for "Heaven Sent" alone (though I also love his work in "Listen,"…
Twelve having a macaron dispenser made me smile.
So great to have this show back! I already love Bill—she's observant, kind-hearted, imaginative, and open-minded. I also love seeing Twelve as a professor, and I hope we'll get to hear more of his lectures in future episodes.
On a side-note, I wonder if Moffat slipped in subtle tributes to two legends who passed…
I enjoyed it, too; so glad the show's back! Really like Bill—she's a great companion already. The theory you posted in spoiler bars is really intriguing—that would have been cool!
I think it's the humor—it's not as snarky/quippy and seems more good-natured. I know that Thor himself is pretty straightforward and it's other Marvel characters who are more dry and sarcastic; I guess I was getting tired of that kind of humor. I just really liked the scene where Thor recognizes Hulk and is so…
Me too—I think it's because Taika Waititi seems to be bringing something fresh to the Marvel brand, and the trailer showed that, whereas it's not clear from this trailer how Rian Johnson is bringing anything new.
Also—Doctor Who's starting up again tomorrow. (I got my hopes up when I saw the Who?Weekly podcast mentioned above, but then… I realized it wasn't DW-related.)
That's what I was thinking! The way he's dressed seems like an in-joke ….
31 Days of Oscar has been wonderful; I'm thrilled they showed some Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movies. Tonight's screening of Swing Time was glorious.
