Dunno where your definition of status quo is coming from, but it probably includes geocentrism and phlogiston. In the real world- AGW is the status quo.

If National Monument status were to be revoked, then the lands would revert to BLM and there would be drilling and mining. So it’s not as stupid as you try to make it sound.
Yes, we’ve all met them. But, obviously, they don’t care about climate. They say they do to signal that they’re different than other conservatives. “See! I’m not some creationist loon, I’m sciency and rational!” but it never affects their politics or votes.
Imagine all the things you could fail to do, and then be rewarded for.
If I saw Bennet in person, I’d try to explain to him why his understanding is incomplete and why his observations are misplaced if not counterproductive.
Conversation requires respect and empathy. If we had that, we wouldn’t be in this mess. AJC is putting the cart before the horse.
Ooooo! I just had Chicken and Waffles at the IHOP. Can I do a story on “black culture” now?
tl;dr: I’ve stopped beating you, why don’t you show some gratitude!
If it’s the same as ANY middle aged person feels on a train with ANY bunch of wild teens, I understand he’s old. But why is that relevant to a conversation about race, instead of just “Get off my Lawn!”
There’s no attempt at empathy. No effort at understanding them or himself. It’s just “They’re different, that makes me uncomfortable.”
You don’t get a cookie just for doing the absolute bare minimum of human decency.
Maybe if he can figure out how to build tunnels for so damn cheap, he’ll just get hired to build subway tunnels for less. Drilling them out is the biggest expense of new underground construction anyway.
So instead of sitting in my car, waiting in traffic, to get on a sunny freeway, I can sit in my car, stuck in traffic waiting to get stuffed in the fume filled tunnel.
Let’s say we get good at building large underground cities. On Mars. It’s not like the Martians will thank us. They’ll just revolt and start a war. I’ve seen The Expanse, I know what’s coming
Gtfoco Loco. Not sorry.
Wtf? I mean, srsly . What is your point? That word salad is just blustery nonsense, not any kind of coherent argument.
First half of your comment is spot on. It just makes the second half irrelevant: there’s no need to presume racist intent, or even a desire for Black impoverishment. All you need to assume is that those people remain incurious about the causes of current economic and social inequality, that they are devoid of empathy…
Correction. That survey is actually reflecting the views of 96% of the people who are still willing to admit they voted for Donald Trump.
I think the economic anxiety argument has some truth, but it’s exactly the reverse of what you say. Economic anxiety induces fear and a reduction in empathy. It puts the anxious person into a mindset that sees all conflict as zero-sum, and where that person is overly concerned about loss instead of gain. Politics gets…
That “we” is doing a whole lot of work in your comment. Native Americans did not come here as immigrants, did not ask to be flooded with immigrants, were largely excluded from the benefits of that melting pot. If anything, Native Americans were the fuel burned to heat the pot.
