Maybe he was deeply depressed. People can genuinely believe that their actions in a case like this (apparent murder-suicide) are in everybody's best interests. It's almost impossible to fathom looking in from outside...but we don't know what was in his head.

I teach at a Catholic School in Seattle and have been heartened by the student response. I am getting ready to mail off a long letter to the archbishop. Here is an exerpt:

It's surprising how many people don't understand the difference. If he was thrown in jail for his dumb-ass remarks, it'd be newsworthy. This guy is exercising his constitutional right to say stupid shit. A&E is exercising their right not to give him any more of their money,

I'm guessing he violated a clause in his contract.
