I’m just wasting time at work, you’re the one who cares about the show!

I think the show looks like absolute garbage. I’d be happy to be wrong, but I was talking to someone about it and they agreed but immediately went into “And Elves were created before there was a sun and moon and dwarves lived underground. They shouldn’t be black”. Then I had to kind of backtrack and defend a show that

Honest question: If everyone looking to better themselves is accused of faking it, then what’s the point of demanding and wanting terrible people to better themselves?

It seems like you can’t ever work on yourself and try to be better without everyone pointing out how terrible you were and that you are beyond

it’s a pretty clear giveaway that the studio knows they have a turkey on their hands when the marketing strategy revolves around scolding you for not liking it!

Despite the best efforts of...[checks notes]...Twitter randos and YouTube comments sections, the billion-dollar franchise will most likely succeed.

Toxic fans? Not for this project? Yes there’s been people saying all the actual shots of people look lifeless in the trailers but that’s just people who want this to be good getting scared by the breadcrumbs weve been given. Toxic fans are people who like, try to review bomb stuff for starring a Black actor and claim

Instead of showing the adventures of Hobbits, Elves and men; we get the woke society of Amazon and friends destroying the canon of a loved franchise by recreating a character that was never depicted as being a warrior to begin with.

I do wonder how much of the racist/sexist blowback is amplified by the companies making these properties in order to generate buzz and also stake out a place in the culture war.

Why is it automatically racist to have an opinion about color blind casting in something like LOTR? People have a right to feel it takes them out of it without other people saying it’s racist. It’s not. I didn’t love all the changes to The Sandman but I’m not racist

All That wasn’t a sitcom. It’s a sketch show in the vein of SNL. I’m also pretty sure shows like Hey Dude, Clarissa Explains it All, Salute Your Shorts, and The Adventures of Pete and Pete predate All That by a few years. Most of those are actual sitcoms.

I, admittedly, haven’t listened to the interview/chat, and only know what’s involved based off of the article here, but... man, some of y’all are impossible to please.

the dude is openly acknowledging the hurt he did and saying that he’s trying to become a better person. he seems as though he’s fairly self-aware of

I had to look it up too. This word would be quite funny if it came from say, Mark Wahlberg, but while LaBeouf definitely seems like an asshole, I have no reason to believe he’s a dummy.

It seems like Wilde’s “no asshole” policy on set was enacted after LeBeauf and made retro active (and also did not apply to her, or her lead actor).

Isn’t learning fun?

Imagine if Sudeikis does a movie with some hot young actress and ends up leaving Wilde for her. He would be absolutely vilified. We’ve seen it happen before. IMO Wilde is getting an appropriate amount of shade for what went down and there’s nothing wrong with it.

Trying to capitalize off the abuse that Shia LeBouf committed for brownie points, then getting immediately called out is a pretty rough look for Olivia Wilde.

Shia LaBeouf is an actual nightmare, but he has receipts this time. Emails, texts and video he sent to Variety that does seem to suggest he was quitting or he was fired but she tried to bring him back.

Telling them some places *not* to serve papers is wholly different than directing them where to do it.

It’s wild. This writer says “cancel culture isn’t real” but then immediately describes Louis as making a “return” ... a return from what lol, being cancelled?

Cancel culture doesn’t exist AV Club keeps repeating is fucking rich coming from same website that says “OH great. Ellie Kempler has a racist past”
