This is a movie where everyone is actively HOPING there’s a classic Shyamalan bullshit twist because the original ending sucks.

Nah, the toddler ages into a teen, has a kid, who after falling asleep with her new family, wakes up alone on the beach, in her 20s and will inevitably die alone. Important distinction. 

When the first trailer for this hit I was curious and got Sandcastle and OH MY GOD it was depressing and frequently disturbing...and I thought, no way they’ve made *this* into a film. Who would it satisfy?

Well if you’ve got anti-gravity tech, going from “hovering” to “flying around” ain’t that much of a stretch.

I’ve long since accepted that they’ll never get that right. It’s too attractive a visual for them not to have him flying around instead of just hovering.

A winged* speedo, no less.

I mean, the book explicitly addresses that Paul and his family plan to exploit the Fremen. He cares for them too (because humans care for those they live with), but the exploitative goals are right there in the text. It’s a deconstruction of the myth of benevolent colonialism.
