I just finished a rewatch of the whole Farscape series for the first time in more than decade. I was delighted to find that it still holds up and is wonderful!

They fucked with the presentation order and built to the Best Actor category as the “main event,” the idea being that people would stay tuned in for a Boseman win. Which did not happen.

Had they not fucked the order, wouldn’t be getting as much traction today.

Yeah, the staging was like a Wrestlemania where the crowd isn’t sent home happy at the end. And that works for pro wrestling, as that heat is just rolled over into the next show.

Seeing discussions of Boseman’s performance in Ma Rainey has taught me that some folks just plain don’t dig film adaptations of intense stage plays. And Boseman had his working shoes on for that role.

Farscape sits comfortably in my all-time TV top five.
