It’d absolutely be strange especially given everything you just said. They just had an online game die. Why the hell would they split the current player base of GTAO, which is still massively successful, by releasing another online-only GTA?  

It’d be extremely odd of them to announce both continued support of GTAO and a new online-only game.

No love lost for me, honestly. I do not care about RDO or GTAO, but will play any single player game Rockstar puts out there. So this actually resolves a worry I had, which was that Rockstar had given up on single player games completely and would just be supporting the online games for as long as they possibly could.

I almost want to say I’d be surprised if they adapt anything with Mello/Near.  Light and L are way more satisfying, the manga could’ve easily ended with the resolution of that arc.
