I spent like 30 seconds looking and found a key-locking mount to keep a flatscreen TV on an articulating arm. As long as you mount this thing to the back of a monitor and have something that covers the VESA screws, it’s probably going to be challenging enough not to be worth stealing a $35 computer

I clicked the link thinking “I kinda want to upgrade my 1050ti to a 6gb 1060, so if it’s like a hundred bucks (which would be a nice price cut from refurb prices), now might be the time”. Um...nope

I could actually use it; I do video editing, and have plenty of 300-400GB projects that I’ll move onto a 500GB SSD to edit. But at this point, 1TB SSDs are about a hundred bucks, and would make way more sense. It’s less about completeness (I have a pair of 4TB spinning drives to take care of storage) and more about

“I have enough SSDs in my desktop. I have enough SSDs in my desktop. I don’t need to fill every 2.5" drive mount in my case

Definitely worth the upgrade; I threw a cheeeeap SSD (kingspec) into my 6 year old laptop and breathed new life into it. infinitely faster boot time and responsiveness
I bought this Kingston drive last august for 94 fucking dollars, and it’s been great as a cache drive in my desktop.

ALSO, you can always bring this SSD

“what sort of cheapskate businesses aren’t dropping a few 110 lines when they convert?”
The startups who drop a hundred grand on “cool” furniture and an in-house bartender/dj/yoga instructor, but don’t think about the logistics of having a usable work space? :)

Seriously, though, I think the only situation where this

Those drop-down outlets were exactly my thought. Have an electrician put one every 10 feet or so and arrange your furniture/couches so they’re under a plug. No tripping hazards, and you don’t have people clustered around the periphery with a bunch of unused space in the middle.

I guess the counterpoint is that it’s not

I’m picturing the stereotypical converted warehouse/manufacturing space with a concrete floor and limited 110v outlets along a wall or two - maybe there are some 220v outlets in the ceiling to power industrial equipment, but it’s not going to be useful for a bunch of people on laptops

Do you even get a device, though? It seems like Base is just access to the service (obviously still has a cost associated, but I’m sure the $10 a month folks will be covering that)

I’d assume if you’re dropping 15 to 20 grand on an edit computer, you already have a server of some sort you’re editing off of. Even a few 12TB spinning drives (if you had room in this chassis) are going to fill up quickly with 8k footage

As another parent who dealt with monthly ear infections before getting tubes put in, I don’t think this is going to eliminate the ear drops. BUT if it could save just one Urgent Care visit (“I know my kid has another damn ear infection, please take one look and prescribe me the drops so we can get this shit started”)

Even the minimap example doesn’t make any sense to me. You’re mirroring a small section of the screen that’s maybe 5 inches from your center of vision down onto a screen that’s much farther from where you’re looking.

But damn, being able to pop up a youtube video (that’s going to the same headphones  you’re using for

I get it, you’re just trolling.

I saw Black Swan in a theater where parents brought a baby and a few under-10-year-olds. It probably wasn’t terrifying, but it had to be confusing as hell for those kids.

Yeah, this dude with a phone is clearly at fault for ruining a kid’s movie...

And to take it one step further, this isn’t some dystopian society where women are forced to have abortions to keep the medical research industry stocked with fetal tissue. The two events (abortion and research) are completely independent.

from the headline, I assumed the question was going to be “how do keep my neighbor’s ‘420ThugginPimpSlut’ router from showing up on my 6 year old’s ipad”

Besides, the flashlight in the article header doesn’t even have tentacles to grab you testicles. It’s nothing like the real purple fleshlight.

To be fair, a single circle in generally the same spot is going to be easier to design a wallpaper around than a weird rectangle of varying width and placement

People didn’t like the black hole on their display, so we made it even bigger and more colorful!

Edit To Add: and we put the battery meter a few millimeters from the other battery meter; right where you’re used to looking for that information!
