You know "to beat" can also mean "to win from". I'm pretty sure that was the intent of the original comment. At least I interpreted it like that. Only when you responded to it as if it meant "to punch", some people ran with that because they thought it was funny.

Dammit, just listened to this episode while walking the dog. I was laughing in the streets like a deranged goon when Griffin started crying in the background because of his love for Rachel.

Ha! Tell that to my dog when she's staring down her food from on top of the refrigerator.

Except, if your scope and knowledge are very limited, Occam's razor might lead you to the conclusion the earth is flat.

I had mate in Peru, but there it was served like any old herbal tea. Coca tea was more of a thing, but it's still no more involved than sticking a bunch of leaves in hot water and letting it steep.

On a workday I never drink less than two. But if I drink more than three, I'm a nervous wreck the rest of the day and if I drink any after 5PM, I probably won't be able to sleep until 2AM.

That you call Borges a deep cut is probably right, but it makes me sad.

Upvoted for the MaxFunDrive shout out. I'm considering increasing my donation, but paying more for a podcast network than for Netflix seems a bit silly. But when I win the lottery, I'm becoming a golden eagle.

You meant to say "Rosebuddies, with the lovable Rachel and Griffin - Forbes 30 under 30 Media Luminary - McElroy.

I know. I wanted to indicate I'm far from not a creep, but still would never seek out or lust after pics like this.

Which is exactly the reason I have zero interest in these and am never tempted to seek them out. Emma Watson willingly posing for a sexy picture: sploosh! Pictures of her stolen and/or taken without her knowing: no interest.

Second tied with two others. Exit polls say 19 out of 150 seats in parliament, which translates in about 1 in 8 voters. Not that bad. It's just exit polls but it's extremely unlikely they will close the gap with the winner, polling at 31 seats.

Here in The Netherlands we had our election today. Our own populist and islamophobic party, led by Geert Wilders, was feared to become the largest party. I'm happy to say the exit polls indicate them as tied for second place with two other parties and far behind the first place winner.
Nothing to do with this story,

Salsify is great! I've never made the association with shellfish, but I can see why. It's hell to peel and slice though. It exudes some kind of milky, sticky sap when peeled.

You lost me at margarine.

Oh yeah. I remember that Seinfeld episode. And when I was in New York not that long ago, people were rummaging through the garbage for bottles and/or cans all day. So I actually knew this.

You are saying that isn't a thing anymore in the US? Here in the Netherlands you still bring your beer and soda bottles back to the grocery store and put it in some kind of robotized contraption for a deposit.

You jest. But last week I had really smelly fingers for the rest of the drive after spilling some drops of diesel on them. I'm still shivering.

The copy of Brave New World I read was an edition that came out years after the first print. It had an interesting foreword by Huxley, sort of apologizing that he hadn't included stuff like nuclear powered vacuum cleaners. Because by then he had realized that was clearly the future.

It's also not that fucked up on a large screen (PC) or a small screen (phone), it's just the medium screens (laptop) that seem to be screwed.
Of course no matter the screen size there are some issues with avatars loading, loading the right comments, loading comments at all and the scrolling behavior, but those are
