I mean, I get your qualms. As an artist, I agree. All he'd have to do is give him a track suit jacket that would be billowing open to show Gaston's manly chest (5 dozen eggs), or hell, even have a track suit jacket wrapped around his waist (I don't get the orange striped number)....but still, meet the artist halfway,

I am calm. But how about I actually explain where I'm coming from instead of just responding with a "dude" comment? You chose to comment on how I saw the artist's rendering of this character. You also made an association to a piece of work that was not provided by the artist but the author of this article. Saying it's

Oh no. Be honest. Valid criticism is needed here. As an artist and character designer, I have a HUGE issue with a lot of these. Especially the Gaston one. If someone is doing something incorrectly, or isn't accomplishing their goal, call them out on it. Not be mean mind you, but in the art world being blunt has it's

If you have to have text to help your mind associate a character with their environment, the artist has failed. Art is about communicating visually. This artist completely failed to do that. Take that character, and place him on a track and field with students. Does he look like a coach? No. He looks like a threat

Yea really dude. It is the initial view of the work. If that description wasn't there you would not even think starting pistol. As an artist your first job is to communicate visually. This artist did not communicate in the slightest that Gaston was a PE Teacher. Most modern starting pistols are very prominently

The sign of a good artist is being able to hide your inspirations, but if they really are trace jobs as far as the anatomy goes, then i can't back that up.

It was already mentioned in one of the trailers. That's not even the plot twist, that's part of the premise.

Really? Starting gun, dude.

Gaston and Phil look like they're about to rob a house on Christmas Eve that has a kid staying home alone in it...

Yeah dog, Whoopie Goldberg voices Shenzi.

So, Phil is just Danny DeVito.

these look really forced.

personally I found these great first time around but not so much second...

Now playing

I still have to say I like the villager Treepotato better:

... out of all the others, y'all choose this one? (`~`),

Genuine question-what made the retro entry the one you picked? Was it just the retro value or you actually thought it was the better design? There was a lot (A LOT) of great design work here and while it's nice to look at (and a nice idea, granted), it was outclassed by some really professional looking work.

Meh/Meh.
