He did not assault anyone... The cop stepped in front of the car as he saw it moving. If he aimed for the cop I would agree. With your logic a cop could walk into traffic at any time and all cars pointing towards him are assaulting the officer.

Why? The cop moved in the way and intentionally put his foot under the tire. Judging from the video he was not even hurt as he stood on both feet for an extra 10 minutes with no sign of pain.

I agree and was going to post the same thing. The flareside had the wrap around taillights. Also you can spot the driving lights in the first part of the second video. They are not turned on but show up in a lighter what appears to be beige color.
